Versuni, the global licensee for Philips Domestic Appliances, has unveiled the Philips Café Aromis, the most advanced entry in its fully automatic espresso machine portfolio. The launch coincides with the 70th anniversary of Philips’ involvement in the coffee category. Priced at $1,699.99, the Café Aromis targets the high-end consumer segment, combining legacy engineering with modern conversational technology and a library of over 50 beverage presets.
Conversational AI and Barista Assistant Technology
A significant technical highlight of the Café Aromis is the introduction of the Barista Assistant, Versuni’s first conversational user experience in the coffee category. This interface allows for real-time recalibration based on specific bean types and roast profiles.
The system integrates with the Philips HomeID app, enabling users to adjust internal settings through a guided, interactive process. This shift toward conversational UI reflects a broader trend in premium appliances where software-driven personalisation is used to reduce the technical barriers associated with professional-grade brewing.
Engineering and Extraction Innovations
The Café Aromis is built around the new BrewExtract+ technology, which utilises a 13.5g brewing chamber. This hardware optimisation is designed to automate pressure, temperature, and brewing time to ensure consistent extraction and crema.
Additional technical features include:
High-Pressure Cold Water System: Enables the production of authentic cold brew in minutes rather than hours.
LatteGo Pro Dual System: A specialised milk system capable of processing both dairy and plant-based alternatives for both hot and cold foam.
SilentBrew Technology: Design focus on noise reduction during the grinding and brewing phases, which has earned the machine a Quiet Mark certification.
With the Café Aromis, Versuni is positioning the Philips brand to compete more aggressively in the premium "super-automatic" espresso machine market. The machine's aesthetics, utilising stainless steel and wooden accents, mark a departure from the plastic-heavy designs common in entry-level models, signalling a move toward the "tactile luxury" segment of the home kitchen market.
David Farmer, CEO of Versuni North America, noted:
"With the launch of Philips Café Aromis, we're showing consumers just how effortless it can be to enjoy café-quality coffee at home, while celebrating the range, innovation, intuitive technology, and thoughtful design that have defined our coffee heritage for 70 years."
Pricing and Availability
The Philips Café Aromis is currently available for pre-order at a retail price of $1,699.99. This pricing places it as a flagship offering within the Versuni North American portfolio, directly competing with other high-end European automatic espresso brands.
