Saint James Iced Tea has announced its expansion beyond the ready-to-drink (RTD) iced tea aisle with the commercial launch of Saint James Yerba Mate. Marking the enterprise's initial portfolio extension into functional energy, the three-SKU range delivers 150mg of plant-derived caffeine per 16-ounce (473ml) bottle while maintaining clean-label, low-sugar formulation standards.
The product rollout targets rising consumer demand for clean, natural energy alternatives, building upon the company's established distribution network across mass, grocery, and direct-to-consumer channels.
The product development translates traditional South American yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis) processing into a low-calorie, shelf-stable liquid refreshment format.
Key technical and nutritional specifications across the range include:
Caffeine and Nutrient Matrix: Delivers 150mg of natural caffeine alongside naturally occurring polyphenols and theobromine to assist steady energy release.
Low Sugar and Caloric Value: Formulated with 20 to 25 calories and 3g to 4g of sugar per 16-ounce serving.
Ethical Sourcing: Certified USDA Organic and non-GMO verified, utilising South American yerba mate leaves sourced through ethical supply networks.
Resealable Aluminium Packaging: Packaged in 100 per cent recyclable, resealable aluminium bottles featuring an updated green and chrome visual design.
Brenden Cohen, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Saint James Iced Tea, stated that expanding into functional beverages addresses daily consumer routines by delivering higher levels of natural caffeine within the brand's established taste profile.
Flavour Portfolio
The Saint James Yerba Mate platform enters commercial distribution across three fruit-forward flavour variations:
🥭 Mango Passionfruit: A tropical fruit formulation combining sweet mango with tart passionfruit notes.
🍋 Raspberry Lemon: A classic berry and citrus pairing delivering a balanced sweet-and-sour profile.
🍊 Strawberry Tangerine: A fruit blend pairing sweet strawberry with citrus tangerine notes.
Distribution and Retail
The launch arrives amid strong commercial momentum for Saint James, with the enterprise reporting 164 per cent year-on-year revenue growth in August 2026.
The brand has recently executed several high-volume retail listings:
Costco Wholesale: Launched a nationwide exclusive variety pack featuring Red Raspberry and Classic Mango organic black teas.
Just Salad Partnership: Secured nationwide foodservice distribution across all 120 Just Salad fast-casual locations in the United States.
Total Footprint: Reached more than 25,000 retail points of distribution across the United States and Canada.
Brad Neumann, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Saint James Iced Tea, noted that the multi-celebrity marketing campaign—featuring NHL athlete Jack Hughes, former NFL player Victor Cruz, and entrepreneur Isabela Rangel Grutman—is designed to drive consumer trial across diverse active lifestyle occasions.
Saint James Yerba Mate is available directly through e-commerce channels at US$39.99 per 12-pack, with physical retail distribution expanding to more than 7,500 doors through the end of 2026 across Kroger and Albertsons banners nationwide.
