The J.M. Smucker Co. has unveiled a comprehensive brand refresh for its Jif peanut butter portfolio, marking the brand's first major visual and packaging update in more than 30 years.

Scheduled to begin shipping to retail stockists in October 2026, the updated design modernises Jif's packaging hierarchy while repositioning the core product line to capture expanding consumer snacking occasions beyond the traditional peanut butter and jelly (PB&J) sandwich.

The brand refresh reflects shifting consumer eating habits across North America, where peanut butter is increasingly consumed as an on-the-go snack paired with fruit, crackers, and rice cakes.

Visual Redesign and Packaging

The visual overhaul updates the brand's iconic packaging elements to improve shelf stand-out across physical store aisles and digital e-commerce storefronts.

Key visual and structural enhancements across the range include:

  • Tri-Colour Banner Revival: Modernises the brand's signature red, green, and blue tri-colour banner with cleaner graphic lines.

  • Typography Simplification: Removes legacy drop-shadow styling from the central lettering to establish a bolder visual presence on shelf.

  • Snack-Oriented Imagery: Incorporates updated photography displaying versatile serving suggestions, including apple slices, pretzels, and rice cakes.

  • Sub-Brand Renaming: Formally rebrands the portable Jif To Go line as Jif Dippers to align with consumer usage in portion-controlled dipping occasions.

Shelly Kowal, Marketing Director at The J.M. Smucker Co., stated that the update modernises the visual presentation while retaining core brand equity, highlighting Jif's transition from a sandwich staple to a versatile snacking component.

Product Portfolio and Formats

The brand refresh encompasses Jif's entire product line, maintaining original recipe formulations while updating packaging graphics across all retail formats:

🥜 Jif Creamy and Crunchy Peanut Butter: The core recipe offerings updated with a modernised visual identity and cleaner label hierarchy.

🍫 Jif Peanut Butter and Chocolate Flavoured Spread: A sweet-and-savoury line extension designed for snacking and dessert occasions.

🍃 Jif Simply Peanut Butter Spread: A simplified formulation variant engineered for consumers seeking lower sodium and sugar profiles.

🫕 Jif Dippers: Rebranded single-serve portable cups formatted specifically for dipping routines.

Retail and Distribution Timeline

Products featuring the updated visual identity will commence commercial shipments to North American retail networks in October 2026.

The packaging transition will roll out across grocery, mass, and convenience stockists in waves throughout the autumn and early winter months. The J.M. Smucker Co. confirmed that product formulations, pricing tiers, and net weights across the portfolio remain unchanged.
