Starbucks Corporation has expanded its beverage menu across the United States with the official launch of two limited-time offerings inspired by social media drink modifications: the Pink Protein Drink and the Pecan Sticky Bun Latte.

Rolled out via the company's mobile application and in-store menus on 14 October 2026, the additions transition popular consumer "secret menu" adjustments into standardised, operational recipes. Both beverages are merchandised exclusively in a 16-fluid-ounce Grande size for a limited operating window.

The launch highlights the chain's strategy of formalising high-frequency customer drink modifications, allowing store partners to streamline preparation while capturing consumer demand for functional macronutrients and indulgent seasonal profiles.

Functional Formulation and Cold Foam Innovation

The headline introduction of the Pink Protein Drink represents Starbucks' latest integration of functional dietary protein into its cold beverage portfolio:

🍓 Pink Protein Drink: Combines the brand's core Strawberry Açaí Refresher base, coconut milk, green coffee extract, and freeze-dried strawberries, topped with Vanilla Protein Cold Foam to deliver 15 grams of protein per 16-ounce Grande serving.

🌰 Pecan Sticky Bun Latte: Builds upon the brand's Iced Pecan Crunch Latte platform, combining Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast with brown-buttery pecan flavour notes, warm holiday baking spices, brown sugar cream cold foam, caramel drizzle, cinnamon dolce sprinkles, and a crunchy pecan topping.

By utilising cold foam as the vehicle for functional protein delivery, the coffeehouse operator circumvents operational hurdles historically associated with mixing dry protein powders into chilled liquid bases, enabling baristas to dispense consistent macronutrient portions rapidly via established cold foam blending stations.

Operationalising Secret Menu Customisations

The commercialisation of the Pink Protein Drink and Pecan Sticky Bun Latte reflects an evolving product development dynamic in commercial beverage retail, where consumer-led digital modifications directly inform formal menu additions.

Originally popularised on social platforms before its official 2017 menu debut, the foundational Pink Drink has consistently generated derivative consumer-designed recipes across social channels. Standardising these formulations onto digital ordering platforms and point-of-sale systems reduces order input complexity for counter baristas, improves ingredient inventory forecasting, and guarantees consistent portion control across company-operated and franchised units.

Furthermore, integrating 15 grams of protein into a fruit-forward iced beverage caters to daytime functional beverage routines, where consumers increasingly look for satiating beverage solutions outside traditional morning espresso hours.

Availability

The Pink Protein Drink and Pecan Sticky Bun Latte are commercially available across participating Starbucks locations nationwide in the United States.

Both beverages are restricted to a single Grande (16oz) format architecture and are available via digital mobile ordering, drive-thru lanes, and front-counter point-of-sale terminals while promotional seasonal supplies last.
