Italian coffee roaster Lavazza has introduced My Lavazza, its first customer loyalty programme in the United States.
Launching ahead of National Coffee Day on 29 September, the initiative creates an omnichannel rewards infrastructure designed to engage consumers across retail grocery stockists, subscription services, and the brand's proprietary digital storefront.
Under the scheme, loyalty members accumulate points, designated as "Beans", across digital transactions on lavazzausa.com, verified grocery store purchases, and brand engagement activities. Accumulated points can be redeemed for product discounts, digital gift cards from third-party merchant partners, and brand merchandise.
"As we continue to expand our presence in the US, we're focused on building a stronger relationship with customers across every place they experience Lavazza," said Daniele Foti, Vice President of Marketing at Lavazza North America. "Whether through our foodservice partners, at retail, online or directly through our own channels, we want to engage with customers wherever they find us."
Omnichannel Mechanics and Retail Receipt Integration
A central operational feature of My Lavazza is its integration of physical retail sales with digital customer profiles. Rather than limiting rewards solely to direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce orders, the platform incentivises off-premise supermarket purchases through a receipt validation mechanism.
Members earn baseline rewards at a rate of 1 Bean per $1 spent on the company's website. To capture physical retail volume, members who purchase packaged Lavazza products through authorised grocery and mass-retail partners can upload up to three physical store receipts per month, earning up to 75 Beans per validated receipt.
Additional earning pathways span:
Capsule and Pod Redemptions: Customers purchasing Lavazza Tablì tabs or single-serve capsules can redeem unique packaging codes, earning 1 Bean per unit.
Gamified Brand Engagements: Members can complete interactive dashboard tasks, such as consumer surveys, product education quizzes, and digital brand missions to generate supplementary Beans.
Monthly Sweepstakes: All registered members receive three monthly entries into non-purchase sweepstakes drawings for branded equipment and product assortments.
Tiered Membership Structure
The loyalty programme is structured into three progression tiers calibrated by annual Bean accumulation:
Enthusiast: 0 to 299 Beans
Barista: 300 to 799 Beans
Maestro: 800 or more Beans
To support recurring revenue growth, Lavazza has integrated the rewards architecture directly into its e-commerce replenishment programme. Active subscribers to the Lavazza My Way service automatically advance to the Barista tier. In addition, first-time subscription sign-ups receive a 50-Bean onboarding incentive alongside double points (2x Beans) on all scheduled deliveries.
"My Lavazza takes our consumer experience to the next level and deepens our relationship with our loyal followers, all while recognizing them for their engagement with our products and initiatives," stated Cataldo De Franco, Senior Vice President of E-Commerce at Lavazza North America. "It's an important step in growing our community and strengthening our presence within the digital environment."
The introduction of My Lavazza aligns with expanding efforts across consumer packaged goods (CPG) coffee roasters to capture verified first-party purchase data across third-party grocery networks.
By providing financial incentives for grocery receipt uploads and single-serve packaging codes, the platform allows the Turin-headquartered roaster to track consumer buying behaviours across dispersed distribution channels, bridge retail store visits with direct digital touchpoints, and increase customer lifetime value across both retail and subscription models.
