General Mills has partnered with restaurant group Inspire Brands to introduce a co-branded cereal range developed with coffee and doughnut chain Dunkin'.
The collaboration translates three of Dunkin's core beverage profiles into established ready-to-eat (RTE) breakfast cereal brands: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese’s Puffs, and Golden Grahams. The product rollout pairs coffeehouse flavour notes with cereal grains, positioning coffee-flavoured cereals to capture multi-generational morning routines and evening snacking occasions.
The commercial partnership reflects the ongoing deployment of food brand licensing across the centre-store grocery fixture, combining high-equity quick-service restaurant (QSR) beverage trademarks with high-volume packaged cereal manufacturing.
"We're thrilled to collaborate with Dunkin' to create a taste-forward breakfast experience with fun flavour profiles," said Megan Brooks, Business Unit Director at General Mills. "Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese's Puffs and Golden Grahams are beloved cereal brands, and we knew Dunkin' was the right partner to bring together two morning favourites in one delicious bowl: cereal favourites and Dunkin'-inspired flavours."
The trio of Dunkin'-inspired cereals is rolling out nationwide across conventional supermarket multiples, mass merchandisers, and digital grocery platforms.
The lines will be merchandised within the core ready-to-eat breakfast cereal fixture, providing retailers with an incremental trade-up option within high-turnover family cereal sets.
Flavour Architecture and Cereal Formulations
The product lineup adapts espresso and latte flavour profiles onto puffed and toasted grain pieces, engineering flavour systems that pair with cold dairy or plant-based milks:
☕ Cinnamon Toast Crunch x Dunkin' Cinnamon Caramel Latte: Combines signature CINNADUST-coated whole-wheat and rice squares with sweet caramel and creamy latte flavour notes, delivering a spiced coffeehouse profile.
🥜 Reese's Puffs x Dunkin' Peanut Butter Mocha: Reinterprets the brand's chocolate and peanut butter corn puffs with mocha latte flavouring, balancing roasted peanut notes and dark cocoa with rich coffee undertones.
🍯 Golden Grahams x Dunkin' Vanilla Graham Latte: Pairs toasted honey-graham cereal squares with smooth vanilla latte flavour notes to deliver a sweet, creamy breakfast profile.
By integrating sweet dairy, caramel, and mocha profiles rather than intense bitter coffee solids, the product formulation is calibrated to appeal across both adult coffee drinkers and household family demographics.
Brand Licensing
The co-branded rollout arrives as breakfast cereal manufacturers increasingly deploy licensed intellectual property to stimulate category engagement in centre-store aisles.
While standard breakfast cereals historically competed on functional grain fortification and basic fruit additions, collaborations with recognised consumer beverage trademarks provide immediate shelf standout. For Dunkin' and parent company Inspire Brands, extending into ambient grocery aisles deepens brand equity outside restaurant dining rooms and drive-thrus, building off-premise touchpoints that complement packaged retail coffee beans, K-Cup pods, and ready-to-drink (RTD) bottled coffees.
"We know our fans can't get enough of their go-to Dunkin' order, which is why we're always looking for new ways to bring those flavours into unexpected moments," said Brian Gilbert, Vice President of Retail Business Development at Inspire Brands.
"As the largest coffee and doughnuts brand in the United States, we're always looking to meet fans wherever they are. Partnering with General Mills allows us to bring the flavours of some fan-favourite Dunkin' beverages beyond the cup and into the cereal bowl, for a fun new way to enjoy a little Dunkin' at home."
