IFF has announced a strategic expansion of its Health & Biosciences (H&B) division in Latin America, aimed at localised production and technical application. The company is transforming its Arroyito facility in Argentina into its first full fermentation-based enzyme production hub in the region and launching a new household care application laboratory at its Innovation Centre in Brazil.
These investments are designed to improve speed-to-market and reliability for several high-growth sectors, including brewing, animal nutrition, biofuels, and home care. By localising the supply chain and research capabilities, IFF intends to provide solutions more specifically tailored to the environmental and manufacturing conditions of the Latin American market.

Regional Enzyme Production Hub in Argentina
The expansion of the Arroyito site represents a significant technical shift for IFF’s operations in Argentina. Previously focused on final processing and packaging, the facility will now handle the entire biological fermentation process.
By producing high-performance enzymes locally from the initial biological stage, IFF can better control the manufacturing environment to ensure consistent results. This move is expected to increase processing efficiency and allow the company to make faster adjustments as customer requirements evolve in the brewing, animal nutrition, and biofuel industries.
Advancing Applied Innovation in Brazil
In tandem with the production upgrades in Argentina, IFF has opened a new household care application laboratory in Brazil. This facility is specifically designed to help customers evaluate and optimise enzyme performance under regional conditions.
The laboratory focuses on laundry and dishwashing applications. By conducting localised testing, IFF aims to deliver more accurate formulations for next-generation cleaning products, enabling closer collaboration with regional manufacturers and reducing product development time.
Strategic Impact on Latin American Markets
Latin America remains one of the fastest-growing regions for IFF’s Health & Biosciences business. Letícia Gonçalves, president of IFF H&B, noted that bringing fermentation and application capabilities directly to the region allows the company to accelerate innovation and translate scientific developments into practical products for millions of consumers.
Deia Vilela, vice president of Latin America for IFF H&B, highlighted that deeper partnerships are shaping the momentum in the region. The investment builds on IFF’s four decades of biotechnology leadership and reinforces a long-term commitment to capturing growth across the food, home care, and bio-industrial markets.
