Beverage manufacturer Anheuser-Busch has announced a $13 million investment in its Baldwinsville, New York brewing facility. The capital injection is structured to expand production capacity for core brands Michelob ULTRA and Cutwater Spirits, upgrade bottle and can packaging lines, and establish an in-house technical training centre for manufacturing personnel.
The investment forms part of Anheuser-Busch's broader "Brewing Futures" programme, a multi-year initiative committing $600 million across the company's US operating network throughout 2025 and 2026 to modernise manufacturing assets and upskill its workforce.
Capital Deployment and Packaging Upgrades
The $13 million allocation at the Central New York facility targets high-growth beverage categories within the company's portfolio. The capital project includes line modernisations and technical upgrades designed to increase throughput for Michelob ULTRA alongside dedicated production infrastructure for ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail brand Cutwater Spirits.
Key operational components of the Baldwinsville brewery expansion include:
🍺 Michelob ULTRA Capacity: High-speed packaging line enhancements to meet rising consumer demand for light beer offerings.
🍹 Cutwater Spirits Production: Installation of dedicated processing capabilities for spirits-based canned cocktails.
⚙️ Packaging Line Overhauls: Structural upgrades across both canning and bottling lines to improve operational efficiency.
🏭 Long-Term Facility Investment: Elevates total capital allocated to the Baldwinsville plant past $100 million since 2021.
Brendan Whitworth, Chief Executive Officer of Anheuser-Busch, stated that investments across regional facilities strengthen overall brewing operations while driving economic growth and supporting skilled manufacturing jobs in New York State.
Workforce Upskilling and Technical Training Centre
Alongside facility upgrades, the investment funds the opening of a technical skills training centre inside the Baldwinsville brewery. The facility is one of 15 technical training centres being established by Anheuser-Busch nationwide to advance employee capabilities across mechanical, electrical, digital, and operational disciplines.
The new centre expands existing workforce initiatives at the plant, including the Maintenance Technician Development Programme operated in partnership with New York State, The Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY), and the Teamsters.
The facility currently produces more than 50 brand variations across Anheuser-Busch's beer and flavoured alcoholic beverage portfolio, serving as a primary manufacturing hub for North American distribution.
