US condiment brand Hidden Valley Ranch has introduced Spooky Ranch, marking the label's first dedicated seasonal product launch.

Timed for the Halloween trading period, the limited-time offering (LTO) adapts the company’s core Original Ranch recipe with an unexpected dark hue and novelty packaging. The product is rolling out exclusively across Walmart stores nationwide and online at a suggested retail price (SRP) of $3.97, available while supplies last.

"Spooky Ranch takes everything fans love about Original Ranch and adds a little Halloween magic," said Stacy Stokes, Vice President of Marketing at Hidden Valley Ranch. "With a haunting hue and glow-in-the-dark packaging, this twist on the flavour you love is the perfect way to bring some frightful fun to your favourite costume parties and fall festivities this Halloween season."

Natural Colouration and Clean Ingredients

While novelty seasonal foods frequently rely on synthetic dyes to achieve dramatic visual changes, Hidden Valley has formulated the dark dressing using natural colouring components:

🎃 Natural Colour Sourcing: The formulation achieves its deep hue using a blend of fruit juice concentrates and cocoa powder rather than artificial food colourings.

🌿 Clean Formulation: The product contains no artificial flavours, preserving the standard flavour profile of herbs, garlic, and onion characteristic of the brand's Original Ranch line.

By utilising botanical and cocoa-based colourants, the brand addresses expanding consumer scrutiny surrounding artificial additives while retaining the sensory familiarity of its flagship SKU.

Glow in the Dark Packaging

A key point of differentiation for the seasonal line is its packaging architecture. Spooky Ranch is packaged in custom bottles featuring glow-in-the-dark decorative label graphics.

The visual format is engineered to enhance shelf appeal during October retail resets and encourage impulse adoption for autumn social gatherings, costume parties, and domestic entertaining occasions. The brand is positioning the dark dressing across high-frequency party dipping and drizzling applications, highlighting usage alongside pizza, finger foods, and savoury snack platters.

Retail and Availability

The release represents an initial foray into seasonal LTO formats for Hidden Valley Ranch, which leads the commercial US shelf-stable salad dressing category.

Securing an exclusive retail partnership with Walmart provides the novelty line with immediate national footprint across mass-merchandise retail ahead of peak Halloween purchasing. The execution reflects expanding industry interest in temporary holiday line extensions within staple ambient condiments, leveraging brand equity to capture seasonal impulse sales without permanently fragmenting category shelf space.
