Mexican seasoning and condiment brand Tajín has expanded its commercial portfolio with the launch of Tajín Twist Chamoy, a sweet, tangy, and spicy liquid condiment formulated to pair with confectionery, frozen desserts, fresh fruit, and speciality beverages.
The new product introduction adapts traditional Mexican chamoy, a savoury-sweet sauce blending chilli peppers, salt, and dehydrated fruit or citrus, into a versatile format designed for casual dipping, drizzling, and beverage rimming. Formulated without artificial colours or synthetic flavourings, the line extension represents the brand's latest push to commercialise regional sweet-heat profiles across mainstream off-premise snacking and dessert fixtures.
The launch arrives as food and beverage manufacturers increasingly look to tap into consumer interest in cross-category sweet-and-spicy ("swicy") combinations, particularly among younger demographics seeking interactive, customisable snacking experiences.
"Some of the best flavour discoveries start with a little curiosity, and Tajín Twist Chamoy gives everyone a delicious reason to experiment," said Javier Leyva, Director of Tajín USA. "Whether you're giving your favourite gummies a sweet-and-spicy makeover or adding a drizzle to a frozen treat, we want every bite to feel fun, surprising and unmistakably Tajín."
Clean-Deck Formulation and Sensory Profile
The formulation build pairs the brand's signature dehydrated chilli peppers and dehydrated lime juice with ambient sweetening agents, avoiding synthetic additives:
🌶️ Tajín Twist Chamoy Sauce: A balanced sauce combining mild chilli peppers, tart lime notes, and natural sweetness, engineered without artificial colours or flavours to maintain a clean ingredient deck.
By maintaining a clean-label ingredient profile, the product aims to address expanding consumer demand for condiments formulated without artificial food dyes, while preserving the characteristic tart and savoury sensory profile that defines the category.
Cross-Category Snacking and Dessert Applications
Tajín is positioning the sauce as a multi-use topping and flavour enhancer spanning several high-frequency snacking and sweet dayparts:
Confectionery Co-Creation: Formulated to coat gelatin- and starch-based sweets, including gummy bears, peach rings, and gummy worms, capitalising on viral social trends surrounding chilli-coated confectionery.
Frozen Desserts and Dairy: Designed as a warm, acidic topping for dairy soft-serve, ambient-adjacent sorbets, shaved ice, and frozen fruit pops.
Produce Enhancement: Merchandised as a dipping sauce and drizzle for fresh or frozen fruit, such as grapes, berries, and citrus segments.
Beverage and Mocktail Customisation: Engineered as a viscosity-stable glass rimmer and flavour swirl for slushies, functional sodas, and non-alcoholic mocktails.
Commercialising Sweet-Heat in Ambient Fixtures
The commercial introduction of Tajín Twist Chamoy reflects broader category growth across Latin-inspired flavours and sweet-heat profiles within North American food retail.
Traditionally restricted to Hispanic grocery aisles or specialised confectionery shops, chamoy has rapidly expanded into mainstream convenience and supermarket checkout displays. By leveraging its established masterbrand recognition, built largely on its core chilli-lime seasoning powder, Tajín provides grocery stockists with an accessible vehicle to capture incremental impulse sales across produce, confectionery, and ice cream fixtures.
The launch also enables the brand owner to drive secondary basket attachment by encouraging cross-merchandising, pairing the liquid sauce with core seasonings and fresh produce displays to support domestic snacking creation.
