CuBE Packaging Solutions, a North American manufacturer of reusable food containers and a Kent Road Capital portfolio company, has announced an investment exceeding $30 million to expand its manufacturing facility in St. Charles, Illinois.

The capital expenditure programme encompasses comprehensive facility renovations alongside a multi-phase installation of advanced high-speed injection moulding machinery and integrated end-of-line automation. The strategic expansion is designed to strengthen CuBE's domestic supply chain and increase production capacity for commercial customers across the United States.

The St. Charles plant, which commenced operations in late 2025, anchors the company's American manufacturing footprint. It operates alongside CuBE's flagship facility in Aurora, Ontario, which stands as one of the largest single-site food storage injection moulding operations in North America. The multi-phase investment will create new manufacturing roles across St. Charles and the wider Fox Valley region.

"This investment reflects the strength of our customer relationships and the momentum we are seeing across the U.S. market," said Philippe Erhart, Chief Executive Officer of CuBE. "St. Charles gives us a scalable American manufacturing platform, brings us closer to our customers, and provides the capacity, automation, and infrastructure to support their growth for years to come. We are proud to be expanding our footprint in Illinois and to be creating new jobs in the community as we grow."

Reusable Polypropylene Containers

Founded in 2009, CuBE manufactures recyclable polypropylene food containers engineered for microwave, dishwasher, and freezer applications. The product portfolio supplies blue-chip retail grocery chains, restaurant operators, and foodservice distributors throughout the United States and Canada.

Demand for durable, reusable packaging formats has accelerated as commercial retailers and restaurant groups transition away from single-use plastics toward high-quality reusable solutions for takeout, delivery, and private-label retail programmes.

"CuBE has consistently demonstrated why it is a leader in its category, and this expansion is a natural next step," said Ian Kessler, Partner at Kent Road Capital. "CuBE's management team has delivered best-in-class growth while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and customer service. The St. Charles expansion positions CuBE to serve its U.S. customers with greater speed, scale, and resilience, and we are excited to support the team through this next phase of growth."

Community Impact

Local civic leaders welcomed the multi-million-dollar commitment to regional industrial development.

"We congratulate CuBE Packaging Solutions on this significant expansion and are pleased the company has chosen to continue investing and growing in St. Charles," said Mayor Clint Hull. "A strong economic base includes a healthy mix of businesses and industries, and manufacturing is an important part of that mix. CuBE's multi-million-dollar investment demonstrates confidence in St. Charles as a place where businesses can grow and succeed, and we look forward to the company's continued success."

The initial phase of the St. Charles facility expansion is complete and currently operational, with subsequent installation phases scheduled through 2027.
