Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) has announced a comprehensive brand refresh and product reformulation for 7UP, introducing a lime-forward taste profile across its portfolio.

Marking the brand's first major evolution in more than 15 years, the launch renames and reformulates the classic carbonated soft drink to "7UP Lime Lemon". The rollout encompasses updated recipe formulations, modernised vertical packaging, and a multiplatform marketing campaign designed to engage younger adult demographics across US retail channels.

The product update targets the $5 billion US lemon-lime category, positioning the brand's lime-first taste as a point of differentiation within carbonated soft drinks.

Drew Panayiotou, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer at Keurig Dr Pepper, stated that giving lime the primary focus updates the heritage soft drink brand for a new generation of consumers, combining a brighter taste experience with updated visual packaging.

Lime-Forward Reformulation

The reformulation shifts the flavour emphasis from a standard balanced lemon-lime profile to a brighter, lime-led sensory experience.

The updated recipe and visual identity apply across four primary brand SKUs:

🟢 7UP Regular: The core carbonated soft drink updated with a brighter, lime-first flavour profile.

šŸƒ 7UP Zero Sugar:Ā A zero-calorie variant featuring the reformulated lime-led taste.

šŸ’ Cherry 7UP:Ā A fruit-infused line extension incorporating the new lime-forward base.

šŸ’ Cherry 7UP Zero Sugar:Ā A zero-calorie cherry variant built on the updated lime-led recipe.

Research and Insights

The product development strategy aligns with shifting sensory preferences among younger demographics. According to data from KDP's State of Beverages 2026 Trend Report, 72 per cent of Gen Alpha and Gen Z consumers gravitate toward citrus-forward flavours, while 64 per cent express a preference for bold, intense taste experiences.

To support shelf stand-out across physical and e-commerce retail storefronts, the packaging redesign introduces a vertical logo format, vibrant colour palettes, and prominent "Lime Lemon" labelling across all canned and bottled formats.

Retail Rollout

The commercial deployment will commence physical retail distribution across nationwide US stockists starting in mid-August 2026.

The brand update will be supported by "Flip the Sip", an integrated multiplatform marketing campaign spanning digital social storytelling, cultural activations, and point-of-sale retail merchandising.

The nationwide rollout provides grocery, mass, and convenience retailers with a modernised citrus soft drink lineup aimed at capturing Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumer trial during the late-summer trading period.
