Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Inc. has announced plans to invest CAD 6.2 million (approximately $4.5 million) to expand its manufacturing facility in Delta, British Columbia.
The capital investment will increase the plant's maximum production capacity by 15%, responding to sustained commercial demand for decaffeinated coffee processed without chemical solvents.
Construction at the British Columbia site is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2027 without interrupting existing commercial processing lines. Project completion is slated for June 2027, with full commercial operations targeted to begin the following month.
The Toronto-listed company indicated that the majority of the project expenditure will be funded directly through operating cash flow, with the remaining capital financed via existing credit facilities.
"We are excited to announce that due to growing demand for our decaffeinated coffee and rapidly expanding utilisation of our expanding production capacity, we will be investing in the expansion of our technologically advanced production facility," said Frank Dennis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Water.
Chemical-Free Decaffeination
The capacity addition addresses rising commercial interest in decaffeinated coffee processed without chemical solvents such as methylene chloride or ethyl acetate.
Swiss Water utilises a proprietary, water-based decaffeination system that relies on water, temperature, and time to remove caffeine from green coffee beans while preserving intrinsic origin flavours. As consumer and regulatory scrutiny across solvent residues in food and beverage processing increases in key global markets, roasters and beverage brand owners have increasingly sought third-party certified chemical-free decaffeination partners.
The expanded volume in Delta will allow the business to support order volumes from its established roasting and retail clients while creating processing headroom to onboard new commercial trading partners and enter additional regional markets.
Industrial Infrastructure
The Delta facility serves as the primary operational hub for Swiss Water, functioning as a dedicated speciality coffee processor and green coffee decaffeinator.
Alongside its core decaffeination lines, the company operates Seaforth Supply Chain Solutions, a dedicated logistics subsidiary providing green coffee handling, inventory management, customs clearing, and temperature-controlled storage services. The integration of on-site processing and warehousing infrastructure enables the company to manage end-to-end green bean logistics for commercial roasters across North America and international export destinations.
The planned 2027 installation represents an incremental extension of Swiss Water's long-term manufacturing footprint in British Columbia, aligning production throughput with historical capacity utilisation trends.
