The latest food and beverage industry news and trend analysis

Surfside, the spirits-based iced tea and lemonade brand owned by Stateside Brands, has announced a major expansion of its product lineup with the launch of four new flavours. The move comes as the company reports a record-breaking performance for 2025, solidifying its position as a dominant force in the ready-to-drink (RTD) alcohol sector.

Following a year where sales volume skyrocketed to 11.1 million cases—an increase of over 6 million cases from the previous year—Surfside has claimed the title of the #3 spirits volume brand in the United States. The new product rollout is designed to sustain this momentum into the crucial spring and summer trading periods.

Expanding the 'Half & Half' Franchise

The expansion focuses heavily on diversifying the brand's successful "Half & Half" (Tea + Lemonade) proposition, a sub-category that has proven highly effective in recruiting consumers seeking non-carbonated, sessionable options.

The New Lineup Includes:

  • Surfside Blueberry Lemonade + Vodka: A single-flavour extension available in 4-packs and the upcoming Lemonade Variety 8-pack.

  • Surfside Half & Half Variety 8-Pack: A strategic pack designed for social occasions, introducing three new twists on the classic Arnold Palmer profile:

    • Raspberry Half & Half

    • Mango Half & Half

    • Blackberry Half & Half

Matt Quigley, President and Co-Founder of Stateside Brands, noted the intentional design strategy behind the new variety pack: "We leaned into a refined, golf-inspired aesthetic that's intentionally signalling a prominent occasion for enjoying our Half & Half flavours."

'Spirits Brand of the Year'

Surfside’s growth trajectory has been characterised as "best-in-class" within the industry. Launched in 2022, the brand has rapidly scaled to surpass legacy competitors, driven by its "better-for-you" product architecture: vodka-based, 100 calories, 2g of sugar, and notably, zero bubbles.

This non-carbonated positioning has allowed Surfside to capture significant share from malt-based seltzers and heavier canned cocktails. The brand's performance earned it the recognition of "2025 Spirits Brand of the Year" by Market Watch Magazine.

Clement Pappas, CEO and Co-Founder, framed the innovation as a direct response to consumer demand for flavour variety.

"Our new flavour innovations are a direct reflection of our fans' evolving taste preferences – a growing desire for delicious, flavour-forward, sessionable beverages," Pappas said. "We took our time to ensure each flavour was executed to the best taste profile possible... reinforcing our leadership in the spirits-based RTD category."

Availability

The new SKUs are rolling out to retailers nationwide immediately. The strategic timing targets the spring reset and the onset of outdoor leisure activities, such as golf and beach events, where the brand has established strong cultural relevance.
