Swiss packaging system solutions provider SIG has appointed its Chief Financial Officer, Ann-Kristin Erkens, as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Erkens succeeds Mikko Keto, who assumed the chief executive role in March 2026.

Erkens will continue to manage CFO responsibilities on an interim basis until a permanent successor for the finance role is appointed.

The executive transition follows a strategic review by SIG's Board of Directors, which concluded that maintaining leadership continuity and accelerating the execution pace of the group's ongoing transformation programme are critical priorities.

Erkens, who joined SIG as CFO in November 2023, previously served as interim CEO from August 2025 through February 2026, guiding the initial phase of the company's performance improvement roadmap.

Ola Rollén, Chair of SIG, stated that Erkens brings deep operational and financial expertise alongside direct familiarity with the business, positioning her to maintain momentum across the company's performance roadmap. Rollén also expressed gratitude to outgoing CEO Mikko Keto for his commitment and contributions during his tenure.

Background and Priorities

Prior to joining SIG, Erkens spent more than two decades at German consumer goods and industrial adhesives group Henkel, holding senior financial, operational, and strategic positions, including Corporate Senior Vice President and Financial Director of Adhesives Technologies.

Erkens stated that the group's operational priorities focus on concentrating capital and resources on high-value growth categories, sharpening operational efficiency, and maintaining strict cost and capital discipline.

The executive update arrives as SIG demonstrates financial progress under its operational restructuring. In its H1 2026 financial results, the group reported an increase in its adjusted EBIT margin to 15.6 per cent, up from 14.8 per cent in the corresponding period of 2025, alongside a free cash flow improvement exceeding €100 million year-on-year.

The company will host its scheduled Capital Markets Day on 27 October 2026 at The Circle Convention Center at Zurich Airport, where Erkens and the senior management team will outline the group's updated medium-term strategy, operational priorities, and value-creation roadmap.
