Purity Coffee has expanded its portfolio with the commercial launch of ESPRESSO, a whole-bean offering engineered specifically for espresso extraction.

The product debut responds to sustained customer demand for an espresso-calibrated profile within the brand's health-positioned coffee portfolio. Available directly to consumers via PurityCoffee.com at an initial retail price of $30 per bag, the SKU launches ahead of National Coffee Day on 29 September, supported by a 20% sitewide promotional discount.

The launch translates the company's clean-sourcing and antioxidant-retention roasting standards into espresso preparations, targeting consumers and wellness-focused beverage drinkers seeking specialty-grade beans screened for agricultural and biological contaminants.

"Espresso has been one of the most requested additions to our lineup, and we're excited to finally bring it to our customers," said Andrew Salisbury, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Purity Coffee.

"We created ESPRESSO to deliver the rich, balanced experience people want from espresso while setting a higher standard for healthy coffee. It reflects our Circular Health Coffee system and our belief that every decision, from the soil to the final roast — can influence the quality and health potential of the coffee in your cup."

Roast Profile and Extraction Dynamics

While commercial roasters typically utilise dark roasts for espresso blends to impart bitterness and heavy crema, Purity Coffee calibrated the roast curve to preserve active antioxidant compounds while softening volatile fruit acids.

The roast development falls between the company's flagship medium roast, FLOW, and its dark roast, EASE:

Acid Regulation: Moderates citric and malic acidity to prevent harsh, sour flavours during rapid, high-pressure machine extraction.

Density and Body: Calibrated to produce a dense, concentrated shot that retains structural crema without requiring prolonged thermal exposure that can degrade chlorogenic acids.

Milk Integration: Engineered to cut through dairy and plant-based milks, maintaining cup presence in lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos.

The formulation is intended to provide a balanced base across manual and automated commercial and domestic espresso machines, as well as moka pot extractions.

Circular Health Standards and Contaminant Screening

The ESPRESSO release is formulated under Purity Coffee’s "Circular Health Coffee" supply framework, which establishes strict agricultural and processing parameters from farm origins to packaging.

Under this protocol, all green bean inventory is grown using regenerative agricultural practices that support soil microbiology and nutrient density. Prior to roasting, lots undergo third-party laboratory testing to verify the absence of harmful contaminants, including mould spores, mycotoxins (such as ochratoxin A), pesticides, and heavy metals.

Following screening, the beans undergo a precision-roasting process designed to maximise naturally occurring antioxidant compounds, specifically polyphenols and chlorogenic acids, while avoiding excessive polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) associated with over-roasting.

Flavour Profile and Preparation Formats

Sold exclusively as whole beans to protect volatile aromatic compounds and lipid stability until grinding, the blend features a smooth, confectionery profile:

🍫 Cocoa: A rich, bittersweet dark chocolate base that delivers depth and crema density.

🍇 Dried Fruit: Delicate dried-fruit acidity that introduces sweetness without sourness under pressure.

☕ Silky Body: A textured, velvety mouthfeel formulated to remain distinct in straight double shots or when cut with steamed milk.

The whole-bean format allows users to adjust grind size to match diverse hardware setups, including traditional portafilter machines, bean-to-cup domestic units, and stovetop pressure brewers.

Distribution

Purity Coffee is initiating distribution for ESPRESSO through its established direct-to-consumer (DTC) digital storefront, integrating the product into its recurring replenishment and subscription channels.

The DTC-first launch allows the company to engage its core subscriber base and collect early consumer usage data across varied home brewing equipment before assessing wider commercial distribution pathways.
