Princes Group has expanded its ambient convenience portfolio with the introduction of four Asian-inspired curries, bringing Thai, Japanese, and Korean culinary profiles to the UK canned ready meal fixture.

Rolling out across major supermarket multiples, the collection debuts with Thai Red Chicken Curry, Thai Green Chicken Curry, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry. Engineered to combine high-protein credentials with convenience, all four lines feature on-pack front-of-pack nutritional signposting with no red traffic-light ratings.

The commercial rollout responds directly to changing shopper expectations within ambient ready meals. According to Princes, 80% of canned ready meal shoppers express demand for more modern international cuisines in the fixture.

The launch targets the £15.6 million canned curry category, an ambient segment that continues to outperform wider canned ready meals. While the broader canned prepared meal sector has faced volume contractions, canned curry volumes grew by 2.6% alongside a 2.1% value increase.

Gibson added that the additions are engineered to engage core Princes customers while attracting shoppers seeking to explore global culinary traditions at accessible price points.

Products and Nutrition

The new curry range pairs popular international restaurant profiles with ambient shelf stability and clean nutritional decks:

🌶️ Thai Red Chicken Curry: Tender chicken pieces simmered in an aromatic red curry sauce infused with lemongrass, red chillies, and traditional Thai spices.

🥥 Thai Green Chicken Curry: Combines chicken with a creamy coconut milk and green chilli sauce seasoned with fragrant herbs.

🍛 Chicken Katsu Curry: Replicates the Japanese comfort-food classic, pairing seasoned chicken with a sweet and savoury spiced curry sauce.

🍯 Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry: Formulated with a balanced sweet-heat glaze blending Korean-style chillies, garlic, and savoury soy notes.

All four expressions are formulated to achieve a high-protein profile, eliminating red nutritional traffic-light indicators across fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt to provide an accessible better-for-you meal option.

Retail Availability

Princes is executing a multi-retailer commercial rollout across leading supermarket multiples and discount chains:

Sainsbury's: Currently stocking Thai Green Chicken Curry, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry.

Iceland: Merchandising Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry across its frozen and ambient grocery estate.

Tesco National Listing: All four recipe expressions—Thai Red, Thai Green, Chicken Katsu, and Korean Sweet Chilli—are launching across Tesco stores nationwide from 26 October 2026.

The expanded supermarket distribution positions the range to drive volume growth across the high-performing ambient curry sector throughout the autumn and winter trading windows.
