UK plant-based food company One Planet Pizza has diversified beyond its foundational pizza range with the launch of its first frozen ready meals collection, debuting exclusively across 276 Asda stores nationwide.
Rolling out from 12 October 2026, the trio comprises Tofu Tikka Masala with Basmati Rice, Mac & Cheeze, and Veg & Lentil Ragù Lasagne. Each meal carries a recommended retail price (RRP) of £3.85 for a 400g portion and is engineered to cook from frozen in approximately ten minutes.
The launch marks the brand's first formal portfolio extension outside the frozen pizza fixture, positioning clean-deck plant-based recipes within convenience-led supermarket freezer cabinets.
Frozen Ready Meal Lineup and Nutritional Formulations
The three-strong lineup focuses on familiar comfort recipes reformulated using whole foods, pulses, and plant proteins:
🍛 Tofu Tikka Masala with Basmati Rice: Pairs marinated tofu with sweet potato, cauliflower, and edamame beans in a spiced masala sauce, served alongside basmati rice and chana dal, delivering 24 grams of protein per 400g serving.
🧀 Mac & Cheeze: Combines macaroni pasta with a savoury sauce formulated from soya and butter beans, finished with a crisp seasoned topping to emulate traditional baked pasta bakes.
🍅 Veg & Lentil Ragù Lasagne: Layers durum wheat pasta sheets with a vegetable and brown lentil ragù, topped with a plant-based béchamel-style sauce.
By incorporating legumes and protein-rich vegetables rather than relying solely on processed meat analogues, the recipes aim to address consumer interest in nutrient density and whole-food ingredients within prepared frozen foods.

Small-Batch Manufacturing in Blackpool
To scale manufacturing for the commercial rollout, One Planet Pizza partnered with a specialist production facility in Blackpool.
The site utilises small-batch cooking and flash-freezing processes designed to maintain vegetable texture, pasta firmness, and nutritional integrity across automated production runs. The production arrangement provides the brand with scalable manufacturing bandwidth while preserving recipe quality standards ahead of national supermarket distribution.
Brand Origins and Supermarket Trajectory
Founded in 2016 by father-and-son team Mike and Joe Hill, the Norfolk-headquartered business entered commercial grocery as the UK’s first dedicated frozen vegan pizza brand.
The company first established commercial ties with Asda in 2022 after being selected for the supermarket’s supplier incubator initiative, subsequently securing listings across major UK grocers including Morrisons, Co-op, and Aldi.
The transition into frozen ready meals aligns with broader retail adjustments across domestic freezer aisles, where convenience store stockists and major supermarket multiples are reallocating shelf space toward single-serve, quick-cook meal solutions that cater to mid-week evening dining and working-from-home lunch occasions.
The complete trio of 400g frozen ready meals is listed across 276 Asda branches from 12 October 2026.
