Unilever packaged food brand Knorr has entered the ambient convenient meal category with the launch of Knorr Cups, a range of eight single-serve, ready-to-heat pasta and rice meal cups.

The platform extension translates the brand's popular ambient side dishes into an on-the-go cup format that requires only water and two and a half minutes of microwave heating. Merchandised across supermarket and convenience store fixtures, the lineup spans four pasta and four rice recipes designed to eliminate cooking equipment and prep barriers for time-pressed consumers.

The commercial rollout targets shifting eating routines among younger demographics. According to consumer data cited by the brand, 71% of Gen Z and Millennial consumers now opt for multiple mini-meals throughout the day rather than three traditional sit-down meals, while more than half of Gen Z Americans engage in secondary freelance work or side hustles, accelerating demand for rapid desktop meal solutions.

Preparation Velocity: Requires the addition of cold water directly into the cup up to an indicated fill line, followed by 150 seconds in a commercial or domestic microwave.

Controlled Starch Hydration: Formulated with pre-gelatinised starches and fast-hydrating grains that achieve optimal crumb tenderness and sauce viscosity after a three-minute post-cook resting window.

All-in-One Formulation: The dry seasonings, dairy solids, and lipids are integrated into the blend, eliminating the requirement for consumers to add milk or butter during preparation.
