Canadian superfood and functional nutrition company Organic Traditions has closed a USD $10.5 million ($15 million CAD) Series A funding round. The financing will support the brand's physical retail expansion across the United States, scale digital sales channels, and fund clinical research for its functional product pipeline.

The funding round was backed by an investor syndicate comprising consumer packaged goods, technology, and retail executives with operating backgrounds at companies including FreshPet, Shopify, Frito-Lay, Colgate-Palmolive, and City National Bank.

Capital Allocation and Growth

The capital infusion marks a significant operational shift for the family-founded business as it accelerates North American distribution under second-generation leadership. Organic Traditions reports 70 per cent revenue growth over the past three years and projects a 36 per cent revenue increase across North America over the next 12 months.

The growth strategy focuses heavily on increasing physical store density in the US market:

  • US Retail Expansion: The brand plans to launch across more than 1,500 new US retail locations within the next year, aiming for an 82 per cent increase in US retail revenue.

  • E-Commerce Scaling: Digital sales channels are projected to grow by 64 per cent, supported by investments in online customer acquisition and logistics infrastructure.

  • Retail Footprint: The company currently supplies more than 6,000 retail locations across Canada alongside existing US stockists including Erewhon, Fresh Thyme, Earth Fare, and MOM’s Organic Market.

Ally Mamalider, Chief Executive Officer of Organic Traditions, stated that the investment enables the business to scale high-growth operational areas and increase retail accessibility for functional superfood products across North American markets.

Fibre Flow Innovation and Product Portfolio

A central driver for the capital allocation is the expansion of the company's Fibre Flow line. The product platform targets dietary fibre deficiencies by delivering 8 grams of fibre, prebiotics, and probiotics in single-serve stick formats with zero sugar.

The functional product line is projected to grow by more than 200 per cent over the next 12 months, supported by planned line extensions and dedicated clinical trials to validate functional claims. The platform achieved initial volume traction through a listing at Costco Canada earlier this year.

Organic Traditions' wider functional nutrition portfolio spans several core categories:

🍵 Probiotic Matcha Latte: A functional hot beverage formulation combining green tea with probiotic cultures.

🍄 Focus Fuel Mushroom Coffee: A functional coffee blend incorporating adaptogenic mushroom extracts for cognitive support.

🥬 Daily Greens: Concentrated green superfood powders formulated for daily nutritional supplementation.

🫐 Fibre Flow Smoothies: Clean-label smoothie mixes formulated with plant-based fibre and prebiotics.

Investor Backing and Leadership

Founded over 25 years ago by Jerry Zeifman and currently led by Chief Executive Officer Ally Mamalider, Organic Traditions operates within the functional food and beverage sector, offering products inspired by traditional wellness practices re-engineered for modern retail formats.

Walter N. George, President of OT Investors LLC, noted that the investment group selected Organic Traditions based on its established brand equity, functional product innovation, and multi-channel scaling capability across physical retail and digital platforms.
