Organic plant-based beverage brand Kiki Milk, developed by parent company PlantBaby, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Kiki Milk Protein, an organic plant milk formulated with whole sacha inchi seeds.

Retailing in 32-fluid-ounce (approx. 946ml) six-packs via the brand's direct-to-consumer digital storefront and Amazon for a recommended price of $49.99, the line extension marks the company's entry into the rapidly growing functional protein beverage fixture. The formulation pairs whole-food oats with sacha inchi, a 3,000-year-old Amazonian seed cultivated for its complete amino acid profile, natural dietary fibre, and omega-3 fatty acids.

The launch arrives as food and beverage manufacturers face mounting consumer scrutiny over highly processed protein fractions, driving demand for clean-label, whole-food alternatives within dairy-alternative fixtures.

"The problem with most protein beverages is the quality of the protein," said Alex Abelin, Co-Founder of PlantBaby. "When you create a protein isolate, the ingredient typically goes through significant processing to separate the protein from the rest of the seed. In that process, you can lose naturally occurring components like fibre, healthy fats, and other nutrients that are part of the whole food. We started with sacha inchi because it's naturally rich in high-quality protein, and our goal was to preserve the seed as close to its original form as possible."

Formulation and Whole-Seed Nutrition

The product build rejects standard plant protein concentrates and fractionated powders, centring its functional credentials on minimally processed agricultural inputs:

🥛 Kiki Milk Protein Original: Combines organic oats and whole sacha inchi seeds to deliver 10 grams of complete plant protein containing all nine essential amino acids, 4 grams of dietary fibre, healthy plant fats, and omega-3 fatty acids per serving.

The formulation holds USDA Certified Organic and vegan certifications and is engineered without gums, industrial seed oils, or added flavourings. By retaining the seed's native matrix rather than deploying isolated pea or soya proteins, the recipe aims to mitigate digestive discomfort and deliver sustained satiety.

"Protein without fibre is an incomplete equation," explained Co-Founder Lauren Abelin. "Fibre helps slow digestion, support sustained fullness and energy, and creates a more balanced nutritional experience — so you're not just getting protein, you're getting protein in the context of a whole food."

High-Protein Market Expansion

The commercial debut responds to expanding consumer appetite for dietary protein across retail grocery and online channels.

According to market figures from Towards FnB cited by the brand, the high-protein foods sector is currently valued at $52 billion and is projected to expand to $117 billion by 2034, with protein-fortified liquid drinks accounting for roughly $30 billion of the current total. Consumer research indicates that 71% of US shoppers are actively seeking to elevate protein intake, led primarily by Millennial and Gen Z demographics.

Concurrently, survey metrics indicate that 55% of parents express a desire to incorporate more plant-based protein into household diets but encounter hurdles regarding ingredient transparency and digestive tolerance. Positioning an allergen-conscious, oat- and sacha-inchi-based milk directly addresses these parental concerns while providing a functional base for cold cereals, morning smoothies, and home baking.

Commercial Footprint and Rollout

The introduction builds on commercial expansion for Kiki Milk, which was named to the 2026 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies following retail distribution gains across major national supermarket multiples over the past year.

PlantBaby is executing a digital-first commercialisation rollout for the new protein tier:

Packaging Architecture: Merchandised in shelf-stable 32-fluid-ounce cartons sold in six-pack shipping cases.

Pricing and Channels: Retailing at an MSRP of $49.99 per six-pack across the company's direct storefront at kikimilk.com and via Amazon.

Environmental Offset: The brand continues its commercial partnership with sustainability platform EcoCart to fund carbon-conscious logistics and freight operations.

Following its initial digital launch, PlantBaby plans to evaluate sales velocity and subscription reorder rates ahead of prospective physical retail grocery placement across natural and conventional banners.
