Confectionery major Mondelēz International and quick-service restaurant enterprise Yum! Brands have announced a cross-category product collaboration between Oreo and KFC in China.
Launched on 31 July 2026, the limited-edition platform introduces a fried chicken-flavoured Oreo cookie featuring a savoury cream filling inspired by KFC's Original Recipe seasoning.
The promotional release enters China's competitive snack and QSR channels under Oreo's short-run "Playful Time Travel" collection, using co-branded novelty flavour concepts to engage local consumer demographics and drive impulse purchasing.

Savoury Flavour Formulation
The development of the fried chicken variant replaces Oreo's standard sweet vanilla creme with a savoury filling engineered to mirror the 11 herbs and spices used in KFC's chicken seasoning.
The cookie pairs classic dark chocolate wafers with the savoury creme matrix, incorporating seasoning and salty notes without including meat derivatives.
To strengthen brand identity across physical retail channels, the individual cookie wafers feature an embossed KFC logo alongside Oreo's standard design.
Multi-Flavour Lineup
The promotional campaign debuts across two distinct flavour variations within the "Playful Time Travel" platform:
🍗 Fried Chicken Original Recipe: A savoury cream filling engineered with KFC's 11 herbs and spices seasoning, sandwiched between chocolate wafers.
🍿 Retro Popcorn: A sweet-and-savoury popcorn-inspired flavour profile introduced alongside the fried chicken variant in individual and variety multipacks.
Where are they available?
The product rollout replaces Oreo's signature blue packaging with a red-and-white striped design inspired by KFC's restaurant branding.
The limited-time offering (LTO) has commenced physical retail distribution across grocery stockists, convenience store networks, and selected KFC restaurant locations throughout China.
The collaboration illustrates how global food and beverage brand owners deploy co-branded LTO platforms and cross-category flavour experiments to stimulate consumer trial across regional markets.
