The eighth edition of "JAPAN'S FOOD" EXPORT FAIR Winter 2026 will take place at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre from 11 to 13 November 2026, gathering commercial food and beverage suppliers, regional processors, and international trade buyers for a three-day export-focused trade event.

Organised to connect overseas commercial channels directly with Japanese food manufacturers, the winter exhibition will host more than 3,000 export-ready food and beverage lines. The event is co-organised and supported by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

Unlike multi-category domestic retail fairs, the trade show concentrates exclusively on cross-border procurement, providing international importers, commercial distributors, wholesale consolidators, and supermarket sourcing professionals with direct access to Japanese food producers seeking global expansion.

Focused Export Categories and Regional Provenance

The winter 2026 exhibition floor is curated to address rising international trade demand for authentic Japanese agricultural commodities, functional ingredients, and packaged goods:

🍵 Matcha and Speciality Teas: Showcasing ceremonial-grade and culinary matcha from Kyoto alongside regional single-origin green teas.

🥩 Wagyu and Fresh Proteins: Presenting certified Japanese Wagyu beef cuts prepared for international cold-chain export.

🍶 Sake and Craft Beverages: Curated portfolios of traditional sake, shochu, and regional craft beverages tailored for overseas on-premise and retail distribution.

🦀 Seafood and Processed Lines: Shelf-stable marine goods, frozen speciality seafood, and processed ambient culinary ingredients.

🍬 Confectionery and Ambient Groceries: Branded confectionery from Hokkaido alongside artisanal pantry staples and regional delicacies unavailable through standard export distributors.

A primary operational objective of the Winter 2026 event is providing trade buyers with direct access to prefectural food processors outside Japan's primary export hubs, enabling international supermarket groups and hospitality operators to establish exclusive supply contracts and differentiate shelf assortments.

Debut of Japanese Tableware and Kitchenware Fair

Reflecting the commercial alignment between Japanese culinary culture and front-of-house presentation in the global hospitality sector, the 2026 edition introduces the fair's inaugural Japanese Tableware & Kitchenware Fair.

The non-food expansion enables retail buyers, boutique hospitality groups, and restaurant procurement directors to consolidate sourcing across food products and dining hardware within a single venue:

🏺 Artisanal Ceramics: Traditional pottery, ceramic dinnerware, and regional porcelain engineered for commercial dining environments.

🔪 Commercial Cutlery and Kitchenware: Precision kitchen tools, traditional knives, and authentic culinary hardware crafted by Japanese manufacturers.

Integrating tableware alongside food ingredients reflects changing procurement patterns across international hospitality groups and high-end retail multiples, where operators increasingly seek integrated, authentic dining concepts to support experiential foodservice.

International Buyer Attendance and B2B Matching

The upcoming winter edition follows sustained trade engagement across previous iterations. Combined metrics from the 2025 editions and concurrent events recorded 33,745 trade visitors and 932 exhibiting enterprises representing commercial delegations from 55 countries and territories, with 94% of trade attendees expressing intentions to revisit.

To optimise commercial negotiation time on site, organisers have deployed a structured digital business-matching service ahead of the November show opening. The platform allows registered importers, distributors, and supermarket buyers to pre-screen supplier catalogues, submit procurement requirements, and confirm one-on-one commercial meetings before arriving at Tokyo Big Sight.
