The latest food and beverage industry news and trend analysis

Pennsylvania-based Holla Spirits has announced a strategic refresh of its ready-to-drink (RTD) Crush cocktail portfolio. The update includes redesigned primary and secondary packaging, the introduction of a new Grapefruit Crush flavour, and the debut of a hybrid beverage concept named CrushTea. By diversifying its packaging formats and expanding its flavour offerings, the company aims to increase product visibility and encourage consumer trial in the highly competitive RTD spirits category.

To improve retail shelf presence, Holla Spirits has rolled out striking new can designs and fully printed cartons. A central component of this merchandising strategy is the introduction of accessible Variety 4-Packs. These multipacks feature 12-ounce cans of the brand's core Crush cocktails: Orange, Watermelon, Blueberry, and the newly launched Grapefruit, all formulated at an approachable 4.5 percent ABV.

The variety pack format is a proven mechanism for lowering the barrier to entry for new consumers, allowing them to sample multiple flavour profiles within a single purchase. Additionally, Holla Spirits has optimised select SKUs for convenience and venue-based sales by offering them in a 16-ounce single-serve format, specifically targeting retail cold boxes and stadium distribution channels.

Flavour Innovation in the RTD Space

In addition to updating its core lineup, Holla Spirits is introducing a novel product to the RTD market: CrushTea. This innovation blends the company's established Orange Crush formulation with tea, creating a hybrid beverage designed to capture market share across both the hard tea and canned cocktail segments.

Patrick Shorb, Founder of Holla Spirits, noted that the portfolio refresh is a direct response to consumer demand for bright flavour profiles and approachable alcohol content. Shorb emphasised that the updated packaging and new formats are intended to facilitate product discovery and make the brand more accessible to a broader demographic.

Production Standards and Eco-Conscious Initiatives

The operational foundation of the Holla Spirits portfolio remains rooted in its distillation and sourcing standards. The brand's base vodka is seven-times distilled and is certified gluten-free, non-GMO, and vegan. Furthermore, the company sources its flavouring ingredients from craft and natural flavour providers.

Beyond liquid formulation, Holla Spirits maintains a focus on sustainable packaging solutions. The company previously pioneered the industry's first custom-moulded, plant-based Italian eco-beverage cork, underscoring its broader corporate commitment to eco-conscious manufacturing practices.

Regional Distribution Footprint

Holla Spirits currently maintains a robust distribution network across the Eastern Seaboard. The brand's products are available in over 1,100 retail locations in its home state of Pennsylvania, anchored by a strong presence in Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores.

The company has also expanded its footprint into adjacent markets, with distribution currently active in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Florida.
