United States craft ice cream manufacturer Graeter's Ice Cream has expanded its seasonal product lineup with the launch of five limited-edition summer "bonus" flavours.

The launches are formulated to support the family-owned brand's seasonal volume sales across both physical retail and digital direct-to-consumer channels. The new range is entering the market in a phased rollout throughout the summer trading window.

The expansion comes as premium and craft ice cream categories continue to see high consumer engagement during warmer months, with brands leveraging limited-time offerings to drive repeat purchases and capture incremental impulse sales.

French Pot Manufacturing Process

To maintain the high-density structure and smooth texture characteristic of its premium portfolio, Graeter's utilises a traditional French Pot freezing process.

Unlike high-volume industrial ice cream manufacturing, which pumps air into the mixture, the French Pot method involves freezing the ice cream base in small, 2.5-gallon batches.

This processing method minimises overrun, resulting in a denser, creamier final product. The small-batch nature of this process is particularly suited to the production of complex, inclusions-heavy seasonal formulations.

New Product Formulations and Ingredients

The summer launch comprises five distinct flavour profiles, including a dairy-free sorbet option and a regional amusement park collaboration:

Marrakesh Coffee – A bold coffee ice cream base spiced with cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger, drawing formulation inspiration from traditional Middle Eastern and Moroccan coffee recipes.

🎭 Ghost Notes – Developed in collaboration with the Kings Island amusement park in Ohio, this variant combines marshmallow and grape-flavoured ice cream with marshmallow cookie dough pieces.

☁️ Peanut Butter and Clouds – A rich peanut butter ice cream base featuring fluffy marshmallow pieces folded throughout the mixture.

🎆 Cherry Sparkler – Formulated to celebrate the upcoming US semiquincentennial, this wild cherry ice cream base is integrated with red and blue popping candy.

🍓 Strawberry Sorbet – An ultra-smooth, completely dairy-free sorbet manufactured from slow-frozen strawberry puree, utilising strawberries harvested at peak ripeness from farms in the Pacific Northwest.

The products are packaged in standard retail pint formats, with the individual flavours rolling out systematically across the summer.

Retail Distribution and Logistics

To support the commercial launch, Graeter's is leveraging a dual-channel distribution model to maximise market coverage:

  • Scoop Shop Network: The limited-edition flavours are being made available across Graeter's network of regional physical scoop shops.

  • E-Commerce Platform: To secure nationwide reach, the brand is offering the summer portfolio online via its proprietary web platform, supporting temperature-controlled shipping across the US.

Operating as the oldest family-owned and operated craft ice cream manufacturer in the US, Graeter's is currently managed by its fourth generation of leadership. The company continues to focus its operations on combining traditional manufacturing techniques with modern, direct-to-consumer and retail distribution networks.
