The intersection of brand advocacy and product marketing continues to serve as a core strategy for Unilever-owned Ben & Jerry's. The Vermont-based ice cream manufacturer has announced the launch of Razz Up, a new limited-batch flavour designed to anchor a nationwide civic engagement campaign.

The initiative aims to mobilise grassroots communities and encourage voter registration ahead of the 2026 United States midterm elections. By pairing product development with community outreach, the brand is leveraging its commercial footprint to support non-profit voting rights organisations.

Product Formulation

The limited-edition release introduces a novel texture profile to the brand’s retail portfolio. Razz Up is formulated with a combination of distinct ingredients:

🍇 Black raspberry ice cream base

🌀 Tart raspberry swirls

🍫 Crackling fudge chunk pieces

To reinforce the campaign’s message, the product packaging features custom artwork designed by Chicago-based artist and activist Monica Trinidad. The design incorporates visual motifs representing grassroots movements and political organising, aligning the physical retail product with the brand’s broader social mission.

On-the-Ground Activism

The product rollout serves as the retail touchpoint for a coordinated campaign managed alongside several prominent civil rights and community advocacy organisations.

Ben & Jerry’s is collaborating with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Black Voters Matter, Community Change, and the National Korean American Service and Education Consortium (NAKASEC). The coalition will focus on raising awareness around voting rights and addressing barriers to voter participation.

Carleen Pickard, Global Social Mission Director at Ben & Jerry's, stated that the brand has a long-standing commitment to supporting inclusive democratic processes. She noted that the Razz Up campaign is designed to convert consumer interest into direct community action during the upcoming election cycle.

Retail and Campaign Timeline

The commercial and promotional rollout is structured to scale over the summer months to maximise consumer reach before the autumn elections.

The Razz Up flavour is currently available across the brand’s network of more than 200 franchise Scoop Shops in the United States, timed to align with National Ice Cream Day. Following the initial scoop shop release, packaged pints are scheduled to enter national grocery and retail distribution channels.

Beginning in August, Ben & Jerry’s will launch a mobile campaign tour. The grassroots tour will visit multiple states to facilitate local voter registration, provide voting resources, and distribute product samples to consumers.
