FlavorSum, a North American flavour solutions producer, has announced the acquisition of California-based custom flavour developer and manufacturer S&S Flavors.
The transaction establishes FlavorSumās West Coast Innovation Center and expands the company's overall manufacturing footprint. Additionally, the acquisition introduces powdered flavour capabilities to the business, complementing its existing offerings across beverages, bakery, dairy, sports nutrition, and confectionery segments.
The acquisition follows FlavorSum's recent expansion with Beverage Flavors International. This transaction aligns with the company's long-term strategy of expanding its geographic footprint, diversifying its technical capabilities, and investing in customer-focused innovation hubs.
According to Brian Briggs, Chief Executive Officer of FlavorSum, the addition of the California-based business represents a significant milestone in executing the companyās regional growth plans.
Briggs stated that S&S Flavors' expertise in powdered flavour systems and its established presence on the West Coast significantly strengthens the company's overall service capabilities across North America. He noted that the expanded innovation and manufacturing footprint positions the business to collaborate more effectively with customers while delivering broader technical expertise.
West Coast Innovation Center and Operations
The newly designated West Coast Innovation Center will be located at the existing S&S Flavors facility in Brea, California. This facility will provide local resources for:
š§Ŗ Flavour Creation:Ā Formulating custom profiles for regional food and beverage developers.
š¤ Collaborative Product Development:Ā Working directly with customers on application testing and sensory validation.
š On-Site Production:Ā Utilizing local manufacturing lines for both liquid and powdered flavour formulations.
This California hub joins FlavorSum's established network of innovation centres and manufacturing sites operating across the Midwest, East Coast, and Canada.
S&S Flavors was founded in 1928 and has spent nearly a century manufacturing natural, organic, water-soluble, and oil-soluble flavour systems.
Curtis Krystek, Vice President of S&S Flavors, noted that joining FlavorSum allows the business to maintain its existing customer relationships while providing access to additional corporate resources, technical assets, and an expanded flavour portfolio.
FlavorSum has confirmed that operations at the Brea manufacturing facility will continue uninterrupted. The existing S&S Flavors team will remain in place to manage the transition, and customers of both organisations will continue to work directly with their established commercial contacts.
