Financial Technologies (Fintech) has announced the acquisition of Ground Signal, a provider of on-premise market intelligence and analytics for the beverage alcohol sector.
The transaction integrates Ground Signal's menu, sales, and consumer dataset platform with Fintech's established business solutions network, creating an expanded technology and insights platform spanning the three-tier system of suppliers, distributors, and retailers.
Ground Signal has spent over a decade developing proprietary intelligence tools that track consumer spending patterns, brand menu performance across markets and channels, and emerging product momentum. By uniting these visibility assets with Fintech's transaction data, the combined business aims to deliver advanced analytics and decision-support infrastructure to the alcohol industry.
"Fintech has spent more than 35 years connecting the beverage alcohol industry through technology and trusted business solutions," said Tad Phelps, Chief Executive Officer of Fintech. "Ground Signal accelerates our ability to deliver something our customers increasingly need: actionable intelligence. Combining Fintech's scale and industry reach with Ground Signal's unique market visibility creates a powerful foundation for the future."
Artificial Intelligence and Data Integration
The acquisition supports Fintech's broader commercial strategy focused on artificial intelligence and data harmonisation.
As the beverage alcohol market generates expanding volumes of transactional and consumer data, the integration is designed to translate fragmented information into commercial insights. Ground Signal's industry-specific AI models and multi-source datasets will underpin the development of new data products aimed at improving commercial execution and strategic planning.
"Ground Signal was built on the belief that the best decisions come from connecting data that traditionally exists in silos," said Melki Ko, founder of Ground Signal. "Joining Fintech dramatically expands what is possible. Together, we can connect insights across suppliers, distributors, and retailers in ways that help the industry better understand consumers, anticipate market shifts, and uncover new growth opportunities."
Leadership and Operational Continuity
Following the completion of the transaction, Ground Signal's leadership team, including founder Melki Ko and Dan Adams, will join Fintech.
The incoming executives will spearhead the expansion of the organisation's Data and Insights division, overseeing product development and ensuring continuity for existing clients across the beverage alcohol supply chain.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
