The Coca-Cola Company has confirmed that its dairy subsidiary, fairlife, LLC, has suffered a ransomware event resulting in unauthorised access to a portion of its IT infrastructure.
The security breach has compromised several internal systems, including those directly linked to production operations. In response to the breach, the company has temporarily suspended manufacturing at its US facilities while investigation and recovery efforts continue.
Ongoing Investigation
Upon detecting the unauthorised access, fairlife activated its pre-established incident response and business continuity protocols. The dairy producer is currently conducting a comprehensive assessment of the breach with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts and independent advisors.
The Coca-Cola Company has confirmed that law enforcement agencies have been formally notified of the attack. At this stage, the full scope, nature, and long-term operational impact of the ransomware event remain under investigation.
Product Safety Assurances
While the cyberattack has disrupted manufacturing infrastructure, the company has emphasised that product quality and safety standards have not been compromised.
The suspension of production is isolated to fairlife manufacturing facilities within the United States. Operations at the brand’s Canadian production sites have not been impacted by the security breach and continue to run as normal.
