Fresh Del Monte

Del Monte Corporation and natural ingredients manufacturer Treatt have announced a global collaboration to launch a new range of fruit-derived extracts. Designed specifically for the beverage sector, the range focuses on meeting growing consumer demand for clean-label products derived from recognisable, real-food sources.

The partnership combines Del Monte’s global fruit supply chain with Treatt’s proprietary extraction and technical expertise.

Upcycled Sourcing Model

A central feature of the new range is its focus on sustainable and circular sourcing. The extracts are manufactured utilising high-quality fruit materials generated during Del Monte's fresh-cut processing operations.

By capturing and processing portions of the fruit that are not utilised in finished fresh-cut retail products, the collaboration aims to maximise the value of raw agricultural materials. This upcycled sourcing model is designed to reduce food waste and support a more sustainable, resource-efficient supply chain for beverage brands.

Deema Anani, Chief Commercial Officer of the Speciality Ingredients Division at Del Monte Corporation, stated that the company is focused on exploring methods to maximise the value of its raw agricultural output. Anani noted that the collaboration demonstrates how innovation and responsible sourcing can work together to help beverage manufacturers align with changing consumer priorities.

Product Portfolio

The initial product rollout includes four distinct fruit extracts, each formulated to deliver consistent sensory performance and authentic flavour profiles across diverse beverage bases:

🍍 Pineapple – Derived from premium pineapple side-streams, offering a bright and sweet tropical profile.

🍉 Watermelon – Sourced from fresh watermelon materials to deliver a crisp, refreshing, and authentic taste.

🥭 Mango – Capturing the rich, complex, and stone-fruit notes characteristic of ripe mangoes.

🍈 Cantaloupe – Providing the distinct, sweet, and aromatic sensory profile of real cantaloupe melon.

Technical Performance

The launch comes as food and beverage manufacturers increasingly face pressure to simplify ingredient decks. Both regulatory trends and consumer sentiment are driving brands away from synthetic or highly processed flavouring agents in favour of natural, agricultural-source alternatives.

Treatt has utilised its proprietary extraction technologies to ensure that the fruit extracts maintain chemical stability, shelf life, and solubility when integrated into commercial beverage systems, including carbonated soft drinks, functional waters, RTD teas, and alcoholic beverages.

Emma Bowles, Group Director of Category and Marketing at Treatt, highlighted that modern consumers expect beverages to deliver on three key pillars: authentic taste, recognisable ingredients, and demonstrable sustainability credentials. Bowles stated that the joint range was specifically engineered to help beverage brands address all three market requirements without compromising on product stability or performance.
