Day Out Snacks, a specialist in plant-based, dessert-inspired nutrition, has announced the launch of its newest limited-edition variety: Peanut Butter Crunch. Scheduled for release on March 1 to coincide with National Peanut Month, the product marks a significant technical shift for the brand as it introduces a crunchy texture element to its protein ball lineup for the first time. The product will be available through the company’s direct-to-consumer website and Amazon storefront while supplies last.

While Day Out Snacks has historically focused on smooth, truffle-like textures, the Peanut Butter Crunch variety incorporates organic pea protein crisps to meet consumer demand for multi-textural snack experiences. This development addresses a broader trend in the functional snack market where "mouthfeel" is becoming as critical to consumer retention as nutritional density.

According to Day Out founder and CEO Becky Dheri, the decision to double down on peanut butter was driven by internal sales data. "Peanut butter is consistently the number one flavour preference across protein and snack categories," Dheri stated. "One of our original flavours, Peanut Butter Cup, is the fastest mover in our retail lineup. We’re excited to give our customers a new way to enjoy that classic profile."

The "Limited Drop" Business Model

The launch of Peanut Butter Crunch is the latest iteration of Day Out’s "limited release" strategy, a move increasingly common among agile B2B food brands looking to minimise risk while maximising market excitement. By utilising limited-edition drops, the brand can conduct real-time R&D without the immediate overhead of a permanent SKU.

"Limited releases allow us to intentionally test new innovations, gather direct consumer feedback, and validate demand before committing to a full-time SKU," explained Dheri. This approach has already proven successful for the brand’s 2024 fall and holiday seasonal lines, which saw high engagement and rapid sell-through rates.

Nutritional Profile and Ingredient Standards

As the clean-label movement continues to dominate the snack sector, Day Out Snacks maintains a strict ingredient deck. The Peanut Butter Crunch Protein Balls are formulated with a plant-based superfood blend including:

  • Protein Sources: Pea protein, chickpea, and sacha inchi.

  • Fibre Sources: Chia seeds and chickpeas.

  • Dietary Specs: Gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, vegan, and non-GMO.

Each serving (three protein balls) provides 9 grams of plant-based protein and 3 grams of fibre. The product is packaged in resealable 4.5-ounce bags containing nine balls each, with a suggested retail price (SRP) of $8.25.

By targeting both nostalgic flavour profiles and functional ingredient standards, Day Out Snacks aims to capture new market segments during a month of heightened consumer focus on peanut-based products.
