The modernisation of agricultural supply chains in Southeast Asia is accelerating as multinational food conglomerates transition from standard machinery towards integrated digital and artificial intelligence solutions. In a strategic move to secure regional food security and drive production efficiency, Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited, through its subsidiary C.P. Vietnam Corporation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam-headquartered global technology provider FPT Corporation.

Signed at the Thailand-Vietnam Business Forum 2026 in Bangkok, the agreement marks a significant milestone in regional corporate collaboration. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Prime Minister of Thailand, His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul, and the Vietnam Party General Secretary and State President, His Excellency To Lam, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations under the collaborative theme of growing together.

By integrating FPT’s advanced software engineering with C.P. Vietnam’s extensive agricultural network, the partnership aims to construct a highly resilient, technology-driven food production model. This initiative is designed to address key agricultural challenges in Southeast Asia, including resource volatility, shifting labour dynamics, and the rising demand for absolute transparency across global food supply networks.

The MoU exchange ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, and H.E. To Lam, Party General Secretary and State President of Vietnam, alongside senior government officials and business leaders from both countries.

Integrated Feed Farm Food Value Chain

The core objective of the partnership is to execute a comprehensive digital overhaul of C.P. Vietnam’s established Feed-Farm-Food value chain. Historically, the agricultural sector has operated in fragmented silos, where feed formulation, animal husbandry, processing logistics, and end-consumer distribution were managed as separate, disconnected operations. This lack of integration often resulted in inventory imbalances, food waste, and slower response times to market fluctuations.

Under the new strategic framework running from 2026 to 2028 and beyond, the partners will explore the development and deployment of multiple advanced digital architectures to streamline operations:

  • Smart Camera and Artificial Intelligence Vision Platforms: Deploying intelligent imaging systems across farms and processing plants to automate animal health monitoring, assess carcass quality, and verify facility hygiene standards without manual intervention.

  • Smart Scales and Integrated Customer Experience: Modernising transactional touchpoints for contract farmers and wholesale distributors, utilising connected weighing systems to ensure accurate material logging and reduce administrative delays.

  • Smart Manufacturing and Industrial Internet of Things Integration: Embedding high-performance sensors and automation controls across C.P. Vietnam’s industrial facilities, including its 12 animal feed mills and six food processing plants, to optimise energy consumption and predictive maintenance schedules.

  • Centralised Data Integration and Agentic Artificial Intelligence: Constructing a unified data lake to aggregate metrics from every stage of production, enabling autonomous AI agents to analyse operational trends and deliver real-time recommendations to managers.

By bridging the physical and digital aspects of farming, the initiative allows the company to transition from reactive management to predictive, data-driven decision-making, protecting operating margins while ensuring a highly consistent product output.

Cost Reductions and Full Traceability

To validate the commercial viability of the digital suite before executing a full-scale national rollout, the collaboration will initiate a dedicated pilot phase at selected C.P. Vietnam facilities. For corporate buyers and agricultural managers, proving that advanced technology can deliver direct financial and qualitative returns is a critical step in overcoming traditional farming resistance.

The pilot programme is structured around two primary performance benchmarks:

  • Twenty Per Cent Operational Cost Reduction: Achieving significant savings by utilising automated climate control, precision feeding systems, and smart energy grids to minimise resource waste across the farm environment.

  • One Hundred Per Cent Food Safety Traceability: Ensuring that every batch of processed meat or food product can be digitally traced back through the entire supply chain, from the initial feed components to the final retail package.

Once these benchmarks are achieved, the partners intend to turn the pilot models into a practical engine for broader agricultural modernisation. The long-term ambition is to scale FPT’s digital solutions beyond corporate-owned facilities and into C.P. Vietnam’s extensive contract farmer network, creating a direct pathway for smart agricultural technology to reach independent smallholders and farming cooperatives nationwide.

Supply Chain Optimisation and the Role of Agentic Artificial Intelligence

For global food brands, maintaining a highly resilient and transparent supply chain is no longer just a regulatory requirement but a core brand differentiator. With consumers placing greater scrutiny on the environmental impact and ethical standards of food production, companies must implement rigorous tracking systems that verify sustainability claims at the farm level.

The integration of agentic artificial intelligence platforms across C.P. Vietnam’s operations represents a sophisticated solution to these supply chain pressures. Unlike traditional software that requires manual queries, autonomous AI agents can continuously monitor logistics data, identify potential shipping bottlenecks, predict raw material shortages, and automatically adjust distribution schedules to prevent stockouts.

Furthermore, this digital transparency supports C.P. Vietnam’s broader corporate social responsibility and net-zero emissions targets. By collecting precise carbon footprint and resource-utilisation metrics from its nationwide network of farms, the company can actively identify areas for emissions abatement, helping to establish a highly sustainable, low-carbon agri-food model in Southeast Asia.

Diplomatic and Economic Implications

The partnership highlights the rising commercial influence of domestic Southeast Asian enterprises, which are increasingly developing and exporting world-class technology solutions within the region. FPT Corporation, operating as an AI-first company with a total revenue of 2.66 billion USD in the 2025 fiscal year, has established itself as a trusted partner for over 500 enterprises across the Asia-Pacific region, employing a global workforce of over 54,000 professionals.

With Thailand serving as a key regional market, FPT’s active role as a co-founder of the Vietnam-Thailand Chamber of Commerce underscores its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties.

For C.P. Vietnam, which has operated in the country since 1993, the digital partnership supports the broader goals of the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Program. By investing in regional technology transfer and digital transformation, the Thai-owned multinational is reinforcing its status as a vital long-term partner in Vietnam’s economic development.

As the global food sector continues to grapple with rising production costs and climate volatility, this joint initiative between CPF and FPT provides a powerful blueprint for the future of agriculture. By proving that advanced artificial intelligence can improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and guarantee food safety at an industrial scale, the partnership is helping to build a more resilient, competitive, and sustainable agri-food sector across Southeast Asia.
