Quick-service beverage chain Swig and canned drink brand Liquid Death have partnered on a limited-time Halloween beverage collaboration, introducing a co-branded drink called Blood Thirsty alongside an exclusive 20-ounce colour-changing collectable cup.
Launched on 26 October 2026, the seasonal campaign paired Swigās proprietary "dirty soda" syrup and dairy customisation model with Liquid Deathās newly released Blood Zero Energy beverage. While the promotional drink was scheduled to remain on menus through 31 October, high consumer demand saw the accompanying limited-edition collectable cups sell out across Swigās retail system within 48 hours of release.
The collaboration illustrates the expanding role of cross-brand intellectual property partnerships within the convenience beverage and drive-thru sectors, using viral social engagement, co-branded flavour profiles, and limited-run packaging merchandise to stimulate off-peak footfall.
"When we connected with Liquid Death, we knew this was an iconic beverage moment waiting to happen, and we had to move fast," said Alex Dunn, Chief Executive Officer of Swig.
"Both brands have incredibly passionate fan bases, and we knew we could create something unexpected together. Seeing fans embrace the collaboration and sell out the collectable cups in just 48 hours has been incredible."
Product Formulation and Flavour Architecture
The collaborative menu offering translates Liquid Deathās carbonated functional energy line into Swig's signature beverage architecture:
𩸠Blood Thirsty: Combines Liquid Death's Blood Zero Energy carbonated drink with tart raspberry purée, smooth vanilla syrup, fresh lime juice, and sweet vanilla cream.
The recipe build applies the traditional dirty soda framework, typically composed of a carbonated soft drink base enhanced with fruit purƩes, flavoured syrups, citrus wedges, and heavy cream, to the functional energy category.
By integrating Liquid Death's zero-sugar energy base rather than standard fountain cola or lemon-lime soda, the formulation captures daytime functional energy occasions while maintaining an indulgent dessert-style profile.
Collectable Packaging and Marketing
A central driver of transaction velocity and digital conversation was the deployment of temperature-reactive drinkware:
20-Ounce Colour-Changing Format: Constructed with thermochromic pigments that visibly shift colour when filled with cold liquid and ice.
48-Hour Depletion Window: Designed as a limited-edition packaging drop, initial allocations across participating stores were exhausted within two days.
Menu Runout Contingency: Following the exhaustion of the colour-changing cup stock, Swig transitioned the Blood Thirsty build into standard branded cups, maintaining beverage sales through Halloween while seasonal ingredient supplies lasted.
The use of packaging scarcity to drive rapid unit turns reflects a proven playbook in quick-service hospitality, where tangible collectable hardware converts digital community interest into physical store visits and higher average ticket values.
