Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has announced the extension and expansion of its distribution agreement with Pernod Ricard USA. The new deal significantly increases the distributor's geographic reach for the Pernod Ricard portfolio, adding key markets in the Southern United States.
Under the terms of the updated agreement, Southern Glazer’s will now manage distribution for Pernod Ricard USA in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. This expansion brings the total number of states where Southern Glazer’s represents the Pernod Ricard portfolio to 37.
Pernod Ricard USA is the largest subsidiary of Paris-based Pernod Ricard SA, which currently holds the position of the world’s second-largest spirits and wine company. The decision to expand into these three additional states indicates a move to streamline operations and leverage Southern Glazer’s existing infrastructure in the region.
Strategic Division Alignment
Southern Glazer’s will continue to manage this partnership through its American Liberty Division. This specialised wing is dedicated specifically to the Pernod Ricard USA portfolio, providing focused commercial resources and market insights.
The American Liberty Division utilises Southern Glazer’s national scale and route-to-market capabilities to maintain consistency across the 37 states included in the agreement. Executives from both companies noted that the expansion is built upon a long-standing operational foundation intended to drive value for retail and hospitality customers.
Collaborative Growth Objectives
Wayne E. Chaplin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, stated that the combination of the Pernod Ricard portfolio with Southern Glazer’s commercial framework positions both companies for continued growth.
Conor McQuaid, Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard USA, cited Southern Glazer’s ability to deliver operational scale and execution excellence as primary factors in the decision to expand the partnership into the new territories.
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits operates in 47 U.S. markets and Canada. In addition to its domestic distribution, the company maintains brokerage operations in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America through its Travel Retail Sales and Export Division.
Pernod Ricard USA maintains a high-volume portfolio of premium spirits and wines. The company remains a central pillar of the global Pernod Ricard SA network, focusing on large-scale distribution and market penetration in the United States.
