Quick-service restaurant major McDonald's has partnered with energy drink enterprise Red Bull to expand its McCafé beverage menu with the launch of the Red Bull Dragonberry Energiser.
The co-branded offering combines Red Bull with fruit flavours and freeze-dried fruit toppings, marking an expansion into functional cold beverages for the QSR chain. Initially deployed across participating restaurant locations in Australia following regional menu trials, the product forms part of a broader beverage strategy aimed at driving cold drink sales and afternoon footfall.
Co-Branded Energy Formulation
The development of the Red Bull Dragonberry Energiser pairs functional energy components with fruit-forward flavours designed for cold beverage consumption.
Each medium-sized serving is formulated around a base of classic Red Bull, delivering 80mg of caffeine per cup, equivalent to a standard 250ml energy drink can or a single shot of espresso.
The functional beverage platform features:

🐉 Red Bull Dragonberry Energiser
A functional drink combining Red Bull with blue raspberry flavouring and freeze-dried dragon fruit pieces served over ice.

🍑 Red Bull Peach Boost Energiser
A complementary fruit variant introduced alongside the dragonberry option, pairing Red Bull with peach flavour notes over ice.
QSR Cold Beverage
The introduction of functional energy drinks represents a shift for McCafé, which has historically focused on traditional hot and iced coffee, espresso, and blended frappe formats.
By integrating established third-party brand equity into its beverage infrastructure, McDonald's aims to capture rising consumer demand for speciality cold beverages, functional energy, and afternoon refreshment options.
The menu addition aligns with QSR industry trends where operators deploy branded energy partnerships and fruit-infused liquid refreshment platforms to increase average ticket values outside traditional meal hours.
Availability
The Red Bull Dragonberry Energiser has commenced retail distribution across participating McDonald's locations in Australia, available through front-counter ordering, drive-thru channels, and digital delivery platforms.
The rollout provides McDonald's with an established footprint in the high-growth functional energy beverage segment, establishing a framework for potential portfolio expansion across international QSR markets.
