Kraft Heinz brand Kraft Dinner (KD) has expanded into the carbonated soft drinks category through a limited-edition product collaboration with Canadian beverage manufacturer Solly's Craft Soda.

The partnership introduces KD x Solly's Cream Soda, an ambient beverage combining the flavour profile of traditional vanilla cream soda with the savoury cheese notes associated with Canada’s leading packaged macaroni and cheese brand.

The novelty release debuted online via Amazon on 23 September, with an in-store retail rollout scheduled across select Canadian supermarket accounts, including Walmart, starting in early October.

Cross-Category Brand Extension and Flavour Formulation

The product adaptation translates the savoury profile of KD's signature cheese powder into a sweet, carbonated soft drink matrix.

The launch builds on Kraft Heinz's broader experimentation with unconventional ambient and packaged brand extensions under the KD banner, following previous limited-time crossover concepts such as KD Mac & Cheesecake and KD Ramen. The format targets consumer curiosity and social engagement by contrasting savoury comfort-food equity against a heritage beverage category.

"A soda might be the last place you would expect to find KD, which is exactly what made teaming up with Solly's Craft Soda so much fun – they have the entrepreneurial energy, creativity and willingness to challenge conventions that made them the perfect partner for this idea," said Daniel Lundberg, Head of Marketing and Strategy at Kraft Heinz.

"KD x Solly's Cream Soda is a whole new way for fans to experience their KD obsession; it's something to crack open with friends, debate what it could possibly taste like, and then satisfy your curiosity with that first sip."

Partnership

The co-branded initiative pairs a heritage FMCG conglomerate brand with Solly's Craft Soda, an independent Toronto-based beverage venture founded by entrepreneur Adin Wener.

For Solly's Craft Soda, the licensing venture provides widespread national brand visibility and rapid distribution scale across mainstream grocery and e-commerce platforms, demonstrating how multinational food producers increasingly collaborate with agile, independent craft drinks manufacturers to execute novelty line extensions.

"For an independent company like Solly’s Craft Soda, having an iconic Canadian brand like KD believe in us is a genuinely big deal," said Wener. "We wanted to create something novelty that would make people smile, but was still authentically Solly's and tasted like a great soda with the same benefits as our core products."

Distribution and Retail

Commercial rollout for the limited-edition beverage follows a two-stage release schedule across domestic Canadian retail channels:

E-Commerce Launch: Online purchasing commenced on 23 September via Amazon and Solly's direct-to-consumer digital store.

Physical Grocery Distribution: In-store retail availability will commence in early October across participating supermarket banners nationwide, including Walmart Canada.

The product will be marketed for a limited promotional window while production batches last.
