Quick-service restaurant major KFC Canada has announced the nationwide launch of Kwench, a dedicated speciality beverage brand featuring nine made-to-order drinks across four product categories.
The launch represents the first expansion outside of KFC Canada's core food category in its domestic market history. Supported by a joint $30 million CAD investment between KFC Canada and its franchisee network, the beverage brand will deploy to over 170 locations by the end of summer 2026, with plans to expand to 600 restaurants nationwide by 2027.
The initiative marks the North American debut for the platform, following previous rollouts across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia.

“Kwench represents a significant growth opportunity for KFC Canada as we expand beyond our core food offering and build a dedicated beverage brand at scale,” said Ryan Koon, President and General Manager, KFC Canada.
“It reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Next Gen Canadians, offering trend-led drinks designed to be experienced and shared socially. Just as importantly, Kwench brings a distinct tone and personality to life, one that's confident and full of character.”
Menu Options
The Kwench portfolio introduces nine initial beverage options engineered for high visual appeal and treat-focused consumption occasions.
The initial rollout features made-to-order options across four distinct functional categories:
🍫 Chocolate Krunch Shake: Rich milkshakes drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with crunchy cookie crumbles.
🍋 Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade: Carbonated fruit lemonades designed as complementary pairings for quick-service meal combos.
🍓 Strawberry Boba Refresher: Fruit-infused lemonade featuring textured hibiscus boba pearls.
☕ Iced Caramel Latte: Chilled coffee beverages formulated for morning and afternoon energy dayparts.
Investment and Network Scaling
The multi-year $30 million deployment focuses on equipping franchise locations with specialised beverage preparation infrastructure, ingredient supply chains, and dedicated point-of-sale branding.
The expansion will proceed in two operational phases:
Initial Retail Footprint: Commercial availability in over 170 Canadian locations by the close of the summer trading window.
National Scaling: Expansion across 600 restaurant locations throughout 2027, backed by franchisee capital allocation.
By introducing a distinct beverage identity at an entry price point starting at $3.50 CAD, the business aims to capture incremental sales velocity outside traditional lunch and dinner meal times.
Quick Service Operations
The introduction of Kwench reflects broader menu diversification strategies across the international quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector, where operators are expanding beyond core food menus into high-margin speciality beverages.
Industry data indicates that speciality beverages, particularly milkshakes, iced coffees, and textured cold teas, are increasingly functioning as primary drivers of store choice and customer footfall. By offering customised flavour profiles, contrasting textures, and vibrant visual presentations, QSR brands are positioning speciality drinks to capture afternoon snacking dayparts and impulse purchasing routines.
