Fermented food specialist GT's Living Foods has expanded its Synergy Kombucha lineup with the launch of a limited-edition collaborative beverage, Unity x Cheribundi Shirley Temple.
Developed in partnership with NextFoods-owned Cheribundi, the product combines GT's raw kombucha with tart cherry juice. The rollout represents the first flavour update for GT’s Living Foods' Unity line since 2018, targeting growing consumer demand for functional crossover beverages that support active lifestyles.
The product is entering national retail distribution immediately, providing grocery, natural channel, and convenience retail partners with a premium, dual-benefit hydration option for the summer trading window.
Functional Collaboration and Ingredients
The collaboration combines traditional fermentation technology with sports recovery nutrition. By integrating Cheribundi's tart cherry juice base into the raw kombucha, the formulation delivers a concentrated profile of active probiotics alongside plant-derived antioxidants.
The product is manufactured without synthetic preservatives or artificial sweeteners. To replicate the nostalgic sweet-and-tart Shirley Temple profile, the formulation integrates several functional fruit juices:
🍒 Tart Cherry – Sourced from Cheribundi's antioxidant-rich juice concentrate, historically utilised by sports professionals to aid muscle recovery.
🍎 Pomegranate – Added to provide depth of colour and a rich, sweet undertone.
🍋 Lime – Blended to deliver a bright, sharp citrus acidity.
🍊 Orange – Infused to complete the classic fruit-punch flavour profile.
The combination of live cultures and tart cherry compounds is designed to appeal to wellness-minded demographics seeking clean-label functional refreshments that serve as mocktails or post-workout recovery drinks.
Alignment and Recovery Trends
The partnership highlights a broader operational focus within the functional beverage sector, where category leaders are increasingly collaborating to expand their consumer demographics.
Kombucha brands have traditionally focused on digestive health and gut wellness. By partnering with Cheribundi, a prominent brand in the athletic recovery and joint-health space, GT's Living Foods aims to position its fermented portfolio to reach fitness-conscious consumers and active individuals who may not typically purchase raw kombucha.
According to GT Dave, founder and Chief Executive Officer of GT’s Living Foods, the partnership is designed to enhance socialising and connection by providing a nutritious alternative to traditional soft drinks.
Marc Seguin, Chief Executive Officer of NextFoods, added that incorporating tart cherry juice into a popular raw kombucha format allows the functional benefits of the fruit to reach a wider, mainstream retail audience during the summer season.
Packaging and Retail Distribution
To support the physical launch and drive shelf standout, the product is packaged in a 16-ounce (approximately 473ml) glass bottle wrapped in a custom, vibrant label.
The custom label features artwork by visual artist Sol Cotti. The design uses dancing figures and an infinity symbol to communicate themes of wellness, balance, and connectivity, targeting younger, design-conscious consumer groups who are highly receptive to collaborative brand packaging.
GT's Living Foods is leveraging its established national supply chain and distribution network to secure immediate retail placement.
The limited-edition Unity x Cheribundi Shirley Temple is currently rolling out to leading supermarkets, mass-market, and natural food networks across the United States, including:
Whole Foods Market – Supporting premium organic beverage positioning.
Target – Accessing mass-market wellness shoppers.
Sprouts Farmers Market – Directing placement toward health-focused consumer segments.
Walmart – Securing high-volume national retail coverage.
The product is scheduled to remain on shelves nationwide through August 2026, supported by coordinated digital marketing campaigns and social media activations across both brand networks.
