Divert, Inc. has announced new organic designations for two of its food-derived liquid fertilisers, expanding the company's ability to return nutrients recovered from unsold food directly to the agricultural sector.

Under the new regulatory approvals, Divert's 6-0-0 Organic ammonium liquid fertiliser is now OMRI Listed® for use in certified organic food production under United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Organic Program standards, while also securing registration as an Organic Input Material with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

Concurrently, Divert's 7-0-0 Organic ammonium liquid fertiliser has achieved registration as an Organic Input Material with the CDFA, with the company actively pursuing an additional OMRI listing.

Organic Certifications and Product Lineup

The newly certified products form part of the Divert® Food-Derived Fertilisers portfolio, an agricultural range manufactured through Divert's proprietary Circular Infrastructure Platform.

The complete agricultural input portfolio comprises:

🌱 Procyclos™ 6-0-0 Organic: Ammonium Liquid Fertilizer (OMRI Listed® and CDFA Registered)

🌱 Procyclos™ 7-0-0 Organic: Ammonium Liquid Fertiliser (CDFA Registered)

🪨 Procyclos™ CST 1-0.5-0: Conventional Solid Soil Amendment

🧪 Procyclos™ AMS 7-0-0: Conventional Ammonium Sulfate Liquid Fertiliser

The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) assesses input products including fertilisers, pest control solutions, and livestock care items against USDA National Organic Program standards. In parallel, California's Organic Input Material Program verifies compliance with state fertilising material regulations alongside USDA organic production rules.

Circular Infrastructure Platform and Resource Recovery

The fertiliser portfolio provides a commercial-scale, closed-loop mechanism to return nutrients that would otherwise be discarded into productive agricultural soil.

At the core of the platform, Divert's Integrated Diversion & Energy Facilities process unsold food that can no longer be donated to food recovery organisations. The facilities convert non-donatable food waste into carbon-negative renewable energy, reclaim food-bound water for reuse, and generate operational data to help commercial customers prevent surplus waste and increase edible donations.

Ryan Begin, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Divert, stated that food that would otherwise enter landfill can now be converted into renewable energy and agricultural nutrients, noting that with fertiliser and energy costs remaining high, domestic sources of both inputs deliver commercial and environmental efficiency at national scale.

Scaling Nutrient Re-entry into Agriculture

The organic designations validate that nutrients reclaimed from surplus food meet the compliance standards required by certified organic growers, keeping biological resources active within the food production system.

Founded in 2007, Divert operates an integrated nationwide model based on three operational pillars: Prevent, Provide, and Power®. The business operates as a portfolio company of Ara Partners, a global private equity, infrastructure, and energy investment firm focused on the decarbonisation of the industrial economy.
