Canned pasta brand Chef Boyardee has announced the nationwide launch of its Chef Boyardee Protein Canned Pasta line across US retail channels. Delivering between 25g and 27g of protein per can, the five-SKU rollout represents a functional line extension aimed at expanding participation within the ambient canned meal segment.
Manufactured under Brynwood Partners portfolio business Hometown Food Company, the launch marks a major product development milestone for the brand following its acquisition from Conagra Brands in 2025.
High Protein Formulation
The introduction of functional high-protein options within ambient canned meals addresses sustained consumer demand for protein-fortified convenience foods at accessible price points.
Supported by a national marketing push, retail activations, and digital influencer partnerships, the line is engineered to attract health-conscious demographics to traditional centre-store canned food aisles.
Dan Anglemyer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer at Hometown Food Company, stated that the protein range is designed to modernise the canned pasta category by combining established flavour profiles with enhanced nutritional metrics to drive brand growth and consumer trial.
Product Range and Nutritional Profiles
The new Chef Boyardee Protein range is launching with five distinct SKU variations packaged in single-serve cans:

Brand Acquisition
The rollout builds upon a series of portfolio additions executed by Hometown Food Company over the past 12 months, including the recent entry into the dry dinner mix segment with Chef Boyardee Skillet Meals.
Following the acquisition of the Chef Boyardee brand from Conagra Brands, parent private equity firm Brynwood Partners has accelerated research and development timelines to update the brand's product architecture.
Henk Hartong III, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Brynwood Partners, noted that the rapid deployment of Skillet Meals and high-protein canned options reflects an operational focus on product innovation and retail expansion during the first year of ownership.
