Global agricultural processing and nutrition corporation ADM has announced the appointment of Jeff Rowe to the newly created position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective 17 August 2026.
Rowe, who recently served as Chief Executive Officer of agricultural technology multinational Syngenta Group, will assume responsibility for ADM's commercial businesses, global manufacturing operations, and international research and development initiatives. He will report directly to Juan Luciano, ADM Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer.
The establishment of the Chief Operating Officer position represents a restructuring of ADM's executive tier to consolidate oversight of its core commercial operations and supply chain infrastructure under a single operational lead.
Juan Luciano, Chief Executive Officer of ADM, stated that Rowe's background in driving operational excellence and scale within the global agricultural sector makes him suited to manage ADM's broad commercial footprint. Luciano noted that Rowe will collaborate with the executive team to execute the company's long-term growth agenda and support its operational momentum.
Rowe expressed that he is joining ADM to help advance its global growth strategy, support farming networks, and deliver value to both customers and shareholders through continued technological development.
Executive Leadership Background
Rowe brings over three decades of agricultural industry experience to the newly established position, spanning biotechnology, crop protection, seed systems, and international regulatory affairs:
Syngenta Group: Rowe served as Chief Executive Officer of the Basel-headquartered agribusiness multinational from January 2024. Prior to this, he was President of Syngenta Crop Protection from July 2022 to December 2023, and President of Syngenta Seeds from September 2016 to June 2022. During his tenure, he focused on integrating sustainable farming practices and digital innovation across the group's global footprint.
DuPont Pioneer: Before joining Syngenta, Rowe spent more than 20 years at DuPont Pioneer in various senior executive roles. His positions included Vice President of Strategic Services and Planning, Regional Director for DuPont Pioneer Europe, and Vice President of Biotech Affairs and Regulatory. He began his career with the firm in 1995 within supply management.
Regenerative Agriculture and Academic Credentials
In addition to his corporate career, Rowe operates a fifth-generation family farm in Illinois. The operation utilises regenerative agriculture practices designed to lower environmental impact whilst optimizing soil productivity and long-term land profitability.
Rowe holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Iowa State University, a Juris Doctorate from Drake Law School, and a Global Executive MBA jointly awarded by the NYU Stern School of Business and the London School of Economics.
