Wingstop has announced a strategic collaboration with Mondelēz International's Sour Patch Kids brand to introduce Wicked Punch, a limited-edition confectionery-inspired wing flavour launching ahead of the Halloween trading period.

Available across all protein formats, the seasonal offering combines a signature Sour Then Sweet Redberry glaze finished with actual Sour Patch Kids Bitz. Developed by Wingstop's culinary flavour experts, the cross-category mashup represents an unconventional expansion into candy-infused savoury menu items, targeting consumer demand for novelty and experiential limited-time offerings (LTOs) during the autumn holiday window.
The product introduction forms part of the Sour Patch Kids "13 Days of Mischief" promotional programme, bringing confectionery brand equity directly into quick-service restaurant (QSR) menu engineering.
"Candy on wings? We know exactly what you're thinking. But no, seriously, it has no business being this good," said Michael Skipworth, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wingstop. "Sour Patch Kids Wicked Punch wings bring sour and sweet together in a way only Wingstop can. It may sound unexpected, but one bite is all it takes to understand why this one is a treat."
Flavour Profile and Ingredient Architecture
The menu innovation merges traditional QSR sauce applications with retail confectionery ingredients:
🍬 Sour Patch Kids Wicked Punch: Features a sweet-and-sour Redberry glaze formulated with tart and sweet flavour notes, topped with Sour Patch Kids Bitz to deliver textural contrast across bone-in wings, boneless wings, and tenders.
"For the Sour Patch Kids brand, Halloween usually means owning the candy bowl. This year, the brand decided candy wasn't enough," said Lauryn McDonough, Senior Director, Candy at Mondelēz International. "This is the first taste of the 13 Days of Mischief programme, and transforming our signature Sour Then Sweet flavours into a wing flavour is exactly the kind of unexpected mischief our fans love."
Phased Rollout and Availability
Wingstop is executing a phased release schedule to build consumer anticipation across its digital ordering channels:
Club Wingstop Early Access (23 October 2026): Loyalty programme members receive exclusive priority ordering access via the Wingstop app and corporate website.
National Menu Launch (27 October 2026): The flavour expands to participating restaurant menus nationwide across the United States.
Operational Sunset (5 November 2026): The limited-time offering concludes its market run, disappearing from restaurant menus following Halloween week.
The short-duration seasonal window is structured to create urgency and drive transactional velocity across digital and app-based ordering platforms during the peak autumn entertaining season.
