Tradebe has completed the acquisition of CitraSource, a producer of natural citrus oils and extracts, from IFF. The transaction marks the latest expansion of the Tradebe Life Sciences division, intended to bolster the company’s ingredients platform in the United States and enhance its capabilities across the global citrus value chain.
The integration of CitraSource follows the acquisition of Florachem in April 2025, which established a significant footprint for Tradebe in the Florida citrus market. By combining these businesses, Tradebe aims to develop an integrated offering in natural ingredients.
CitraSource specialises in sourcing and processing a diverse portfolio of citrus fruits, including oranges, grapefruits, lemons, tangerines, and limes. The business produces full-profile oils, terpeneless qualities, and specialised fractions, which are distributed to a global customer base.
Operational Capacity and Technical Focus
The core of the CitraSource operation is its Winter Haven, Florida facility, which utilises multi-stage and molecular distillation techniques. This infrastructure, combined with dedicated inventory management and extensive storage capacity, allows the business to maintain a consistent supply for its clients.
The facility’s production processes meet FSSC 22000 standards, and the product range holds Kosher and Halal certifications. Tradebe intends to leverage these operational assets to support its broader portfolio of multi-tonality citrus specialities.
Jon Leonard, CEO of the Ingredients division, highlighted: "CitraSource is a strategic acquisition that considerably expands our product portfolio in multi-tonality citrus specialties and enhances our manufacturing technology," adding that the company looks forward to welcoming the CitraSource team into Tradebe.
Growth for Tradebe Life Sciences
This acquisition is aligned with the growth trajectory of Tradebe Life Sciences, a business line focused on flavours, ingredients, and purification. With this addition, Tradebe aims to further diversify its presence in specialty markets and improve its processing technologies.
Oscar Creixell, CEO of Tradebe Life Sciences, noted that the integration of CitraSource reinforces the company’s ambition to build a global platform for natural ingredients, supported by advanced processing capabilities. The company maintains a portfolio of four business lines, with the Life Sciences division generating approximately $210 million in annual revenue.
