Tilray Brands has completed the consolidation of its United States brewing footprint from ten facilities to six, advancing a broad operational restructuring programme designed to deliver approximately $20 million in annualised cost savings by the end of fiscal 2028.
The Nasdaq-listed business confirmed it is executing efficiency programmes across contract manufacturing, inventory warehousing, raw material procurement, and freight logistics. The initiatives aim to lower supply chain complexity, improve brewing capacity utilisation rates, and strengthen gross operating margins across its North American beverage division, which currently represents approximately $500 million in pro forma annual revenue.
The operational consolidation follows a series of restructuring initiatives initiated in January 2025, during which Tilray reduced its US beverage distributor network by roughly 9% and pruned its total product stock-keeping units (SKUs) by approximately 28%.
"We have taken meaningful steps to simplify our U.S. beverage operations, reducing our brewing footprint while optimising our brand portfolio," said Irwin D. Simon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tilray Brands.
Footprint Rationalisation and Asset Monetisation
To rebalance its production architecture, Tilray has systematically closed underutilised facilities, consolidated volume into larger regional production hubs, and divested non-core regional labels:
🏭 Facility Closures: Ceased operational brewing at Hop Valley's Eugene facility in Oregon, the Redhook Brewlab in Washington, and the Revolver Brewing site in Texas.
🚚 Production Migrations: Transitioned commercial brewing volume for the Terrapin brand away from Athens, Georgia, reallocating barrelage into larger, lower-cost facilities within the group's network during the second quarter of fiscal 2027.
🏷️ Brand Divestitures: Completed the commercial sale of Detroit-based craft beer label Atwater Brewery.
🏢 Real Estate Monetisation: Tilray confirmed plans to sell and monetise surplus brewery real estate and warehouse facilities made redundant by the network consolidation, generating non-dilutive liquidity to support the corporate balance sheet.
By condensing output across six remaining core production plants, the company intends to eliminate duplicate plant overheads, standardise packaging and brewing lines, and achieve higher fixed-cost absorption.
Product and Portfolio Adjustments
Alongside physical manufacturing adjustments, Tilray has trimmed its commercial beverage catalogue to protect margin delivery in an increasingly competitive craft beer market.
Cutting total SKUs by 28% since early 2025 has eliminated low-margin, slow-turning, and duplicate product variations. Capital and promotional investment will now be directed toward:
Core Regional Craft Brands: Concentrating wholesale distribution behind scaled regional leaders with established consumer loyalty.
Selected National Craft Labels: Expanding national draught and packaged retail volume for leading brand trademarks.
High-Growth Adjacent Liquid Platforms: Accelerating research, development, and marketing across non-alcoholic beer alternatives and functional energy drinks.
The distributor realignment, which reduced wholesale partner accounts by 9%, is designed to improve route-to-market focus, streamline commercial trade execution, and improve forecasting visibility between brewery floors and wholesale warehouses.
Carlsberg Partnership
The streamlined brewing architecture prepares Tilray for the operational integration of its exclusive US brewing and commercial partnership with Danish multinational brewer Carlsberg, scheduled to take effect on 1 January 2027.
Under the multi-year commercial agreement, Tilray will manufacture and distribute Carlsberg's portfolio across the United States, targeting approximately one million cases of production volume in the partnership's inaugural year. Bringing contract volume from an international lager brand into its scaled manufacturing hubs allows Tilray to utilise available brewery capacity, offsetting domestic craft market volume softness.
Tilray reaffirmed its full-year fiscal 2027 adjusted EBITDA guidance of $68 million to $75 million. Management noted that while early operational efficiencies are already taking effect, the majority of incremental financial benefits generated by the $20 million cost-saving drive will be realised through fiscal 2028.
