The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley, the leading United States producer of premium fruit products for culinary and beverage professionals, has announced the strategic acquisition of Strongwater. Based in Colorado, Strongwater is an award-winning manufacturer of craft bitters, botanical mixers, and whole-plant functional beverages.

The transaction represents a major portfolio-scaling effort for The Perfect Purée, transferring its 40-year heritage of quality-focused fruit processing into the high-margin, rapidly premiumising craft mixer and non-alcoholic beverage categories.

The acquisition is designed to address the escalating demand among hospitality operators and consumers for clean-label, functional, and botanically complex beverage modifiers. By integrating Strongwater’s portfolio, The Perfect Purée is positioning itself as a comprehensive, single-source infrastructure provider for elite bar and culinary programmes nationwide.

In a highly competitive beverage landscape, the boundaries between traditional spirits, mixers, and functional wellness drinks are actively blurring. Both home mixologists and professional bartenders increasingly seek out low-prep, high-integrity ingredients that simplify service speeds without compromising on sensory complexity.

The merger brings together two organisations built on a shared artisan ethos. Michele Lex, CEO of The Perfect Purée, characterised the acquisition as a natural alignment of craftsmanship and flavour innovation. Lex noted that much like The Perfect Purée became the defining secret ingredient behind some of the world's most celebrated cocktail and culinary programmes, Strongwater has engineered products that operators rely on to elevate the guest experience.

By taking ownership of the brand, the California-based purée pioneer intends to deploy its robust nationwide foodservice, retail, and hospitality distribution channels to accelerate Strongwater's growth across the United States.

Formulation and Heritage Innovation

Strongwater's market success is rooted in its unique, science-backed approach to flavour extraction. Founded by former chemist Nick Andresen, the brand originated with a mission to eliminate flat, uninspired taste profiles from the beverage aisle.

Andresen’s product development process represents a sophisticated blending of diverse cultural traditions and material sciences:

  • Botanical Heritage: Drawing on his dual Korean and Norwegian ancestry, Andresen merged traditional Scandinavian folk medicine with East Asian herbal tonic principles.

  • Systems-Based Wellness: Formulating a line of craft bitters, sparkling tonics, and functional beverages that deliver natural, plant-based physiological benefits.

  • Mixology Engineering: Partnering with beverage engineer and veteran bartender Kyle West to translate these complex botanical "potions" into balanced, commercial-grade liquids designed for on-premise application.

The brand's technical rigour has earned significant industry validation. Key SKUs, including Grapefruit Soda, Black Walnut Bitters, and Spicy Bonfire Bitters, have secured multiple prestigious accolades from the Bartender Spirits Awards, the SIP Awards, and the Good Food Awards. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will maintain its dedicated manufacturing operations in Colorado, preserving the local supply chains and artisanal techniques that define the brand's identity.

Distribution Scaling and Trade Activation

To support the physical integration of the two brands, The Perfect Purée is implementing an aggressive B2B marketing campaign. The official trade debut of the unified portfolio is scheduled for the upcoming Bar Convent Brooklyn expo, running from 9 to 10 June 2026 at Industry City in Brooklyn, New York.

At the event, the company will showcase Strongwater's mixers and bitters in both spirit-forward and non-alcoholic "spirit-free" menu applications. This presentation is a critical B2B tactical move, demonstrating the versatile, "plug-and-play" performance of the liquids to thousands of influential bar owners, beverage directors, and hospitality buyers.

By placing these functional modifiers alongside its existing premium frozen purées, concentrates, Tastecraft freeze-dried fruits, and Perfect Fruit Foams, The Perfect Purée is showcasing a complete, fruit-forward beverage system that supports creative expression without operational compromise.
