Stride Consumer Partners has acquired US refrigerated snack manufacturer Clio Snacks for an undisclosed sum.

The investment is structured to support the brand's ongoing commercial expansion, providing growth capital to scale retail distribution, accelerate product innovation, and enhance manufacturing infrastructure across the United States.

The transaction marks the latest private equity investment in the chilled snacking segment, where brands combine the nutritional credentials of cultured dairy with convenient, single-serve formats.

Investment Focus and Growth

Under the ownership of Stride Consumer Partners, Clio Snacks plans to expand its operational footprint within the US refrigerated snacking category.

Investment will be directed across core operational pillars, including brand marketing, product development, logistics, and retail account penetration. The brand owners plan to broaden distribution across conventional grocery, mass merchandise, and club store channels.

"When I joined Clio, we already had an incredible product and a passionate consumer base," said John McGuckin, Chief Executive Officer of Clio Snacks. "We saw a tremendous opportunity to build the infrastructure and scale the business. Partnering with Stride gives us the resources and support to build on that momentum."

Stride Consumer Partners focuses specifically on investing in and scaling high-growth consumer packaged goods brands.

"We have been trying to partner with Clio for years, admiring the brand's vision and how the team has truly built a differentiated brand in the rapidly growing better-for-you 'permissive indulgence' snacking space," stated Juan Marcos Hill, Partner at Stride Consumer Partners.

Emma Greenwood, Vice President at Stride, added: "We jumped at the opportunity to partner with the Clio team and support the company as it scales."

Operational Scale and Manufacturing Footprint

Founded in 2015 by Sergey Konchakovskiy, Clio Snacks manufactures chocolate-enrobed Greek yoghurt bars designed to provide the nutritional profile of strained yoghurt in an impulse snacking format.

The business experienced substantial volume growth following the appointment of John McGuckin as chief executive in 2021. Under McGuckin's leadership, the company more than quadrupled its top-line net revenues while expanding its production capacity and retail store footprint.

The brand's commercial reach currently encompasses:

Retail Presence: Distribution across approximately 60,000 retail locations throughout the United States.

Manufacturing Capacity: An 86,000-square-foot dedicated production facility in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Production Volume: On track to manufacture more than 150 million bars annually.

Clio has broadened its initial product catalogue beyond core single-serve chocolate-coated Greek yoghurt bars into multipack formats, including a line of bite-sized mini bars tailored for family snacking and daytime consumption routines.

Chilled Dairy and Permissible Indulgence

The acquisition highlights steady commercial activity within the refrigerated snacking fixture, where manufacturers are seeking to capture share from traditional ambient snacks and confectionery.

By encasing whole-milk Greek yoghurt within a dark or milk chocolate coating, Clio positions its products at the intersection of digestive health, protein delivery, and confectionery indulgence. The chilled format allows the brand to offer the macro-nutritional benefits of dairy, including active cultures and dietary protein, while offering a handheld alternative to conventional spoonable yoghurt cups.

Financial terms and transaction details were not disclosed by either party.
