Specialty ingredients importer Roland Foods has agreed to acquire Savor Brands from Dot Foods, in a multi-part transaction that will see Dot Foods take an equity stake in Roland Foods and enter into a nationwide redistribution agreement.

The transaction unites Roland Foods' 90-year sourcing and import platform with the logistics and supply chain reach of Dot Foods, North America's largest food industry less-than-truckload (LTL) consolidator. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Under the commercial framework, Dot Foods will distribute both Roland® and Savor® portfolios through its national redistribution network, while Roland Foods will incorporate Savor's product range into its direct commercial channels.

The acquisition broadens Roland Foods' existing product catalogue across commercial foodservice, retail grocery, and industrial manufacturing accounts.

By integrating Savor Brands, Roland Foods adds a dedicated frozen portfolio alongside an expanded assortment of ambient global ingredients. The addition addresses customer demand for consolidated specialty ingredient sourcing, enabling operators and distributors to procure ambient and temperature-controlled items through unified ordering routes.

Until the transaction completes, Roland Foods, Savor Brands, and Dot Foods will continue to operate independently under existing commercial structures. Following the closing of the deal, all current customer contracts, pricing terms, and service agreements will transition without operational interruption.

A central component of the transaction is the long-term commercial distribution pact between the two businesses.

Dot Foods operates an established LTL logistics model that allows food manufacturers to supply distributors in smaller, more frequent shipments without requiring full-truckload commitments. Incorporating Roland Foods' lines into this infrastructure will increase product availability for regional distributors and multi-unit operators across North America.

The companies project that Roland® products will become available through Dot Foods' redistribution channels in early 2027. Concurrently, Savor® and Roland® products will be accessible across Roland Foods' established sales and distribution channels on an aligned schedule.

The transaction strengthens existing ties between the two entities while aligning long-term commercial incentives through Dot Foods' equity investment in Roland Foods. Roland Foods has been a portfolio company of private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners since 2013.

"Savor is a strong fit with Roland Foods, both in the products it offers and in the way the team approaches quality and service," said Keith Dougherty, Chief Executive Officer of Roland Foods. "Just as important, our new distribution relationship with Dot will make it easier for more customers to buy from us. We have known and respected Dot for years, and we are looking forward to what we can build together."

Joe Tracy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dot Family Holdings, highlighted the strategic rationale of the combined operations: "Roland Foods understands the import business, has a strong portfolio and shares our longstanding dedication to providing the highest level of service to customers. The combination of Roland's sourcing expertise and our supply chain capabilities produces a powerful import solution for both Roland and Savor customers. Becoming a shareholder and distribution partner gives us a meaningful way to remain involved in Savor and help both businesses grow."

Dan O'Connell, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Vestar Capital Partners, added: "We have worked with the Roland Foods team for more than a decade, and this transaction is a natural next step for the business. Savor broadens Roland Foods' offering, while the commercial agreement with Dot improves the way those products reach customers. We are pleased to welcome Dot as a shareholder and partner."

The businesses plan to release further details regarding logistics integration and product ordering workflows as the commercial rollout approaches in early 2027.
