Fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain Qdoba has announced the expansion of its seasonal menu with the nationwide launch of two limited-time products, Spicy Tequila Lime Steak and Churro Chips.

The commercial rollout, which commenced on 16 June 2026, introduces a tangy, high-heat protein option alongside the brand’s first Mexican-inspired dessert launch in more than a decade. The menu rotation is designed to capture peak warm-weather foot traffic across the company's retail network of more than 860 locations.

To support the physical menu launch and encourage repeat visits, the chain has simultaneously deployed a structured six-week digital rewards campaign, aiming to increase customer engagement and drive transaction frequency throughout the summer trading window.

Menu Innovation and Product Profiles

The summer menu expansion focuses on contrasting sweet and savoury taste profiles, combining regional spice components with a house-fried sweet snack.

The new limited-time menu additions include the following configurations:

🥩 Spicy Tequila Lime Steak – Flame-grilled steak tossed in a tangy glaze infused with Cholula Original Hot Sauce and tequila lime flavouring.

🍪 Churro Chips – A sweet, crunchy, pastry-inspired dessert featuring freshly fried tortilla chips tossed in a cinnamon-sugar dusting.

Both products have been developed for flexible integration across Qdoba's core menu and have been added to the company’s corporate and event catering portfolios to capture larger group transaction volumes during the summer gathering season.

The technical development of the dessert option leverages Qdoba's existing back-of-house frying capabilities, allowing team members to prepare the cinnamon-sugar chips using the same equipment and workflows utilised for the brand's standard savoury tortilla chips. This operational setup minimises the requirement for new kitchen hardware while expanding menu variety.

To support the physical menu additions, Qdoba has launched a digital marketing and customer-retention campaign titled "Summer Rewards on Q".

The loyalty activation, which runs from 15 June through 26 July 2026, is structured as a gamified spending challenge to incentivise weekly restaurant visits. Under the terms of the programme, registered rewards members who spend a minimum of five dollars ($5) during a designated week unlock a specific reward for the following week.

The loyalty incentives are distributed dynamically to members' digital wallets and include several transactional benefits:

  • Protein Upgrades: Complimentary double protein portions added to standard entrees.

  • Direct Discounts: Tiered discounts of up to five dollars ($5) off a single-receipt transaction.

  • Loyalty Points: Multiplier promotions delivering two to three times the standard loyalty points on select orders.

  • Entree Promotions: Single-use vouchers offering 50 per cent off secondary entrees.

In addition to individual spend-triggered rewards, the company is executing national reward drops to its entire database throughout the campaign window to stimulate baseline app engagement. By linking the digital rewards directly to a weekly spending threshold, the brand aims to raise average order values and secure consistent customer behaviour patterns during a highly competitive summer travel season.

Operational Scale

The deployment of LTOs and structured rewards programmes remains a primary growth driver in the quick-service and fast-casual dining sectors, allowing operators to differentiate their offerings without permanently expanding inventory overheads.

Qdoba operates a franchise-led business model with approximately 860 locations across 45 US states, Canada, Puerto Rico, Japan, and South Korea. The company's preparation model relies on hand-preparing raw ingredients in-house daily, utilising flame-grilling techniques for its primary proteins.

By combining customisable menu options with premium toppings, such as three-cheese queso and hand-crafted guacamole included at no additional charge, the brand seeks to strengthen its value proposition as consumers navigate shifting food-away-from-home spending habits.
