Irish whiskey brand Jameson has announced the US debut of Jameson Distiller's Batch, a single pot still expression engineered to celebrate the brand's 200-year-old distilling heritage.
Rolling out to trade stockists and off-premise channels nationwide in September 2026 following an August pre-sale phase, the release enters Jameson's premium Reserve Series. The expression draws inspiration from a handwritten 1826 mashbill notebook authored by John Jameson II, translating historic single pot still recipes into a modern high-proof bottling.
The launch addresses expanding consumer demand for premium Irish whiskeys, complex cask maturation profiles, and authentic heritage offerings within the US spirits market.
Five Cask Maturation and Formulation Metrics
Crafted by Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland, the liquid is triple distilled in copper pot stills using a traditional mash of malted and unmalted barley.
To build flavour complexity while preserving the brand's core smoothness, the single pot still whiskey undergoes maturation across five distinct oak cask configurations:
🛢️ Ex-Bourbon Casks: Imparts foundational vanilla, sweet caramel, and toasted oak characteristics to the spirit.
🍷 Oloroso Sherry Casks: Contributes dried fruit complexity, honeycomb, and rich nutty undertones.
☘️ Virgin Irish Oak: Introduces regional wood spices, delicate tannins, and local forest provenance.
🌳 Virgin European Oak: Adds deep spice layers, dark chocolate nuances, and structural wood depth.
🪵 Virgin American Oak: Delivers bright wood sweetness, toasted oak tones, and smooth finish parameters.
The resulting 46 per cent ABV (92 proof) spirit features a palate of honeycomb, salted caramel, baking spices, dark chocolate, spicy toffee, cinnamon, and orange peel.
Single Pot Still Heritage
Single pot still represents the traditional style of Irish whiskey production, combining malted and unmalted barley within copper pot stills to generate a mouth-coating texture and distinct pot still spice.
Kevin O'Gorman, Master Distiller at Midleton Distillery, stated that blending five distinct cask types requires careful balance, adding that each oak selection contributes to the final character while retaining the core Jameson sensory profile.
Kristen Colonna, Vice President of Marketing for Jameson, added that the release provides a bridge for both established whiskey enthusiasts and new consumers seeking higher-tier expressions within the premium Reserve Series.
