Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo has introduced an updated in-flight pre-book menu as part of a comprehensive refresh of its onboard food and beverage programme across its domestic and international route network.

The updated catering proposition pairs a refreshed visual identity and recyclable packaging architecture with an expanded menu inspired by regional Indian street food, local kitchens, and international flavours. Alongside core culinary additions, the airline has extended its dietary-specific choices, introduced a rotating inflight snack programme, and integrated waste-reduction protocols designed to support turnaround times and on-time performance.

The launch reflects the commercial evolution of the low-cost carrier model in South Asia, where airlines are transitioning beyond basic snack sales toward curated, higher-margin buy-on-board and pre-order meal platforms without compromising operational turnaround efficiency.

Regional Culinary Focus and Street Food Formulations

The refreshed pre-book menu expands IndiGo's fresh meal inventory with made-to-order sandwiches, regional kathi rolls, and traditional street food items formulated for cabin consumption:

🥪 Veg Coronation Sandwich: Adapts the classic sweet-and-savoury Coronation recipe with a mildly curried vegetable filling formulated for cold onboard service.

🌯 Tangra Style Chilli Paneer Roll: Draws on the Indo-Chinese culinary heritage of Kolkata's Tangra district, pairing spiced paneer with tangy wok-style seasoning wrapped in a flatbread roll.

🍳 Egg Roast Roll: A South Indian-inspired kathi roll filled with spiced scrambled eggs and regional aromatics.

🍗 Fort Kochi Roast Chicken Sandwich: Layers roast chicken, fresh vegetables, and subtle coastal spice blends onto sliced bread.

These additions join expanded freshly prepared samosas and warm savoury meal carriers on select routes and cabin classes, calibrated for clean, low-mess consumption in pressurised cabin environments.

Dedicated Dietary Formulations and Rotating Snacks

To accommodate diverse passenger demographics across domestic and cross-border sectors, IndiGo has introduced dedicated menu tiers catering to specific nutritional and cultural diets:

Specialised Diets: Pre-book choices encompassing dedicated Jain, vegan, diabetic-friendly, and calorie-controlled meal options.

Snack of the Day: A rotating onboard impulse snack programme for passengers purchasing food during flight, offering variety across short-haul domestic flights.

🍿 Snack Lineup: Formulations include Butter Toffee Popcorn, traditional Hand Murukku, and salted Edamame Beans.

🫖 Refreshed Beverages: The drink selection introduces Hot Chocolate, Calming Blue Tea, and fruit blends such as Coco-Litchi.

By diversifying into specialised diets and health-conscious snacks, the carrier aims to lift onboard auxiliary food spend while catering to corporate and leisure passengers seeking functional refreshment during transit.

Sustainability and Galley Operational Efficiency

In-flight catering operations require strict alignment with aircraft turnaround windows and cabin hygiene standards. IndiGo's refreshed programme incorporates specific operational and environmental measures to protect line-haul efficiency:

Demand Forecasting and Waste Reduction: Perishable sandwich and roll options are managed primarily through pre-booking channels, enabling catering managers to match galley provisioning with passenger demand and curb in-flight food spoilage.

Sustainable Packaging Materials: The airline has replaced single-use plastic containers with recyclable tin or paperboard packaging, paired with wooden cutlery packs to minimise single-use cabin plastics.

Cabin Cleanliness and Service Speed: Portion formats and packaging geometry are engineered for rapid tray service by cabin crew and swift collection during descent, preserving the airline's operational focus on rapid gate turns and on-time departures.

IndiGo's refreshed pre-book food and beverage programme is rolling out progressively across scheduled flights throughout its domestic and international network.
